Another injury signals our destiny: is it realistic to bench Amen ever again?

Discussion in 'Houston Rockets: Game Action & Roster Moves' started by Mathloom, Jan 7, 2025.

?

Who sits if Brooks/Amen are playing well when Jabari returns?

  1. 38%-shooting Brooks

  2. Budding Star Amen

  3. 6'11 Jabari who was hitting 40% of his 3's and playing really good defense

Dude picking the last 20 games he was shooting hot is not cherry picking. I'm literally picking it because he's shooting well. It's not like I picked games 11 to 27 lol. Cherry picking is when you're trying to hide something.

I'm projecting to you: Jabari is as good as he shot in his last 20 games. That's my prediction here. Brooks is an improved shooter but not better than Jabari.

Right so one of those lineups has no chemistry and the other has 74 minutes. That's what I meant about this data, it's very noisy. For a significant chunk of this data for example, a lot more of the offense ran through FVV/Sengun.

I'm telling you man, if Brooks is not shooting well, even Tari will outperform him at PF. He's too weak a rebounder, playing up a position he still doesn't have a speed advantage. Amen is guarding the best wing most of the time and we wouldn't want him on 4's all the time. Jabari is the same level shooter and PF defender. You get the rebounds and stocks as a bonus.

It's our destiny dude. I just hope Jabari has enough time to get in rhythm. Should need 10 or so games off the bench where he needs to prove himself.

Per wikipedia...Cherry picking, suppressing evidence, or the fallacy of incomplete evidence is the act of pointing to individual cases or data that seem to confirm a particular position while ignoring a significant portion of related and similar cases or data that may contradict that position.

You may be right that JSJ is a better shooter going forward. However, picking a subset of data that supports one's opinion (i.e. he's shooting well) and ignoring data before it is textbook cherrypicking.

I just find it funny that cherrypicking JSJ's hot shooting streak (even if it continues) as a time period that JSJ was helping the Rockets more still did not have the Rockets playing better with JSJ than they did with Brooks.

I think you don't understand what cherry picking means bro. 20 games is a quarter of a season, it's a common sample size for recent data. I think we wasted a lot of time talking about something so stupid.

Oh man, the league is in trouble and Dillon is in trouble if Bari is playing happily, no angry face and with no ego. The Bari smile always precedes a good Bari run.

I was worried that he would slump because he would take not starting very poorly (usually young players get emotional). On the contrary, his attitude is EXCELLENT (I don't really care, I just want to play, I've been watching as an outsider and noticing things about our team, etc)

    It is our destiny guys.

If Jabari can play at same level or higher as right before his injury, then I'm revising my vote to sit Dillon + start Bari.

But my vote to have Bari coming off bench based on Bari being on mins restriction, not quite 100% or need to shake off the rust first.

    It has begun.

Jabari Smith: 15 points, 4 of 6 from 3PT range, 9 rebounds in 38 minutes, +12 on the floor

    Eason +5, Brooks +2,
9 combined rebounds in 56 minutes

Let FVV (bring back slowly) and Dillon come off the bench the next five games. Amen, Jalen, Jabari, Tari, Sengun. The kids go off to the races, build a nice lead and then steady eddies FVV and Dillon come in. Defense still great, slow down the offense to thwart a turnover enduced comeback. It will give the guys and fans a preview of what needs to happen next year.
