Sorry Pal. We aren't. Ime loves Jalen's effort and he is only 22. Of course, if something spectacular falls in our lap, anyone other than Amen could be traded. I think Sengun is much more likely to be traded than Jalen, because he has more trade value and his fit with Amen is questionable. I really don't think any of Amen, Jalen, Sengun, or Jabari are getting traded, because no one that would be worth it will be available.
The FVV/Green/Brooks/JSJ/Sengun lineup works. When Amen plays, he's defending the top playmaker which is often a guard. This puts Green in the role of guarding a SF or PF and having to handle a lot of off ball work defensively (i.e., Amen and Green essentially means the Rockets are playing small). The FVV/Green/Amen/Brooks/Sengun lineup just isn't working primarily because it spots the other team an additional 6 points a game (2 extra wide open threes). The person among the starters I've seen slow rotating or having to have Brooks push them into position the most is Green. Sengun a close second, though him closing out is a last resort. As far as fluccuations go, I know Jokic and Shai cause bigger fluccuations in a positive manner than Green on/of numbers are negative. Granted, Green's numbers, while not great before, have absolutely tanked since JSJ went down.
If your theory is correct, then when Jalen is in the same lineup with Amen, Amen shouldn't be guarding the opposing playmaker. The conventional wisdom is that you put your best defender on their best offensive player. But doing that might force someone to play out of position, creating a built-in mismatch. It might not be optimal for the overall effectiveness. Jabari not being able to guard perimeter playmaker could be a blessing in disguise. It forces Jalen to play good individual defense against the opponent's backcourt player, which in many/most cases are the best playmaker.
I'm for playing Amen. Caveat: I'm biased as I've been a little pissed FVV/Green/Amen/Brooks/Sengun wasn't working defensively before FVV got hurt.
Oh I thought they were decimals like 1.456 nevermind. We've had this conversation before where you emphasize how important consistency is to you. Your point is taken that you feel like there's data that indicates Jalen is somehow uniquely different than poor shooters who improve.
Except that the season totals for poor shooting games are within 1.6% over each of the first 4 years .... Is he so uniquely different from shooters who don't improve?
Yes, he's hit highs that they don't. It's that simple. That's what shifts the polarity. That's why everyone in the world including NBA defenses and coaches don't treat him like a 40/30 guy do you understand that? But again, even if he wasn't, it doesn't change the fact the it remains open. There's flat out nothing to show he won't improve even if his stats were flat on volume and percentage both for 3 years.
Yes, he has figured out he is a mediocre talent, who can get by on athleticism for a decent NBA career. DD
Jalen isn't even 22, he's 23. But facts never really factor into this discussion from one side. Hope springs eternal.
…Jabari was one of the more vocal defensive scheme communicators out there. There is something to be said for an iffy defender who has someone yelling out plays behind them performing better than one who lacks that awareness on their own. JBJ just exposed why he is valuable to this team until others step up. Same for Fred offensively - our young guys have some individual skills but lack ability to rationalize what the opponent is doing holistically at this stage in their career. This is a story of young players who are not well rounded yet and a coach who found a way to balance it all out despite that but lost the lineup balance when Jabari and Fred got injured.
Players tend not to reach their peak until they turn 25 yrs old. Some players reach their peak earlier, you can tell by their body type; Ant-man, Sengun, Embiid, Banchero. Players of that body type, don't change much. Jalen came into the league at 155 - 160 lbs. I weighed that in the 9th, 10th grade and I was 6'0. Jalen is 6'5. Imagine that! He's only 185 - 190 lbs now? He needs to be at least 200 lbs. Amen, just guessing, is 6'8, 210lbs? He has more strength Not making excuses but it is what it is. We've been getting glimpse of it here and there but I think we want see the player we've all been waiting for until next yr. John Lucas said 4yrs, I'm saying 5.
Nothing statistically. There is context. That's why I predict what I predict years in advance and when it happens, you don't get to call it luck.
Jalen didn’t come into the league weighing 155-160 lbs y’all lie about fcking everything for no reason, damn
And I predicted that your Chapters are pure humbug. Well written at times as you are quite the writer.
