I HOPE Tank returns full strength too. But I'm doubtful with an injury that significant. My expectation is a return at a less effective level.

Ok so I saw in another thread something about Scruggs sucking at line calls. And it got me thinking, this guy was pretty highly touted, seemed smart, but the line was failing with him at center calling protections. What if the new system doesnt require him to call out the protections? Maybe hes better at that?

Maybe, particularly if he's not playing C.

I hope this doesn't happen but I bet it does, they sign a LG in FA and start Scruggs at RG. This would be a mistake IMHO, because in addition to not being very good at his job, Scruggs is injury prone. He's a quality backup at best.

Because he's a 5x All Pro left guard that's only considering retirement because of how shitty the situation in Cleveland is. If they trade for him Houston would only owe him 5 of his 14 mil because of the dead money situation

That’s a good point. If that were the case, I’d think he would request a trade rather than consider retiring.

I hope we don't give up a top-4 pick for him. I happen to believe that we can improve our line significantly for the short and long term through the draft.

If it gets done it'll probably be a future 6th or 7th

I don’t like that question. DeMeco is not going to throw any players under the bus. He already fired two coaches, and he’s not about to get back in the bus just to run them over again. The part of the offseason where he can address players is coming up. The combine is just starting; come up with a better question.

DeMeco is disappointed in you Kunkel

I don't know who was "touting" Scruggs. Nick picked him toward the end of the 2nd even though he was projected for the 6th. Scruggs was only a third-team selection in the B1G by their conference sports writers. I think it's probable that Scruggs wouldn't make the roster on a number of NFL teams.

He was benched due to a combination of injury and performance issues?
