I would say Jokic does not even care about showboating and all things NBA that has to do with fame. Alperen still wants to be recognized as a star, he has a mean streak, Jokic is just like a machine.....a Tim Duncan.
He looks more like Pau Gasol than Jokic. He can be a great passer, but I think they haven't figured out how to benefit from this yet.
I'm sure all 30 NBA head coaches know how to talk about such offenses and believe in their mind that they could do it if they wanted to, but in reality it's always been a small % of NBA coaches who can sell the players on the vision, teach the players really well, make advanced tweaks, select the right rotation and be exactly as patient as it needs. It's like a social media content creator thinking they can create a movie since they understand the concept. You can't accept Udoka's word that he knows how to do this obviously, Stone has to make an independent assessment. It would really be a stab in the back of Udoka to hire his close friend, but honestly Mike Brown is looking like a good option to keep an eye on. Watching how Malone transitioned from Sacramento to Nuggets makes me understand an excellent coach could fail in Sacramento. Mike Brown used to be exactly like Udoka - all defense, childish offense. Then he actually upgraded himself studying Draymond/Curry/Warriors/Championship action. The Kings' defense sucked but I don't think even Udoka would be able to get that roster to play good defense so I don't blame Brown for that. He fully activated Fox in a way even Malone struggled to do, which is interesting because that's relevant to Amen and Jalen. Brown has the defensive chops to some extent I know that. Coaches seem to be able to take advantage of a team that was well-coached defensively and carry on that tradition without the coach that initially set it up. Brown would bring us his Spurs/Warriors/Kerr/Sabonis experience and that would be massive. An interesting option. Looking for that two-way balanced coach rather than extremists. Alpi will get there but at the moment Udoka wants to turn him into Tim Duncan instead of Jokic. I mean think about it, wherever Udoka goes, the bigs shoot less. Plays more double bigs. Cares about spacing less than any coach, a nightmare for stars. Always happens with guys who pass well from the post, there is always that coach who doesn't get it and is just obsessed with keeping it old school traditional. Our guys refused to spend even a penny on shooters (preferring to acquire their 274th second round pick instead) so Alpi's assist numbers will be artificially low given our personnel. The offense is a mess right now, asking for Alpi to step up in assists is not realistic at the moment. With Udoka here he'll increase like 0.5 assists per season maybe. At his peak, he'll be an 8+ assists guy. He won't be a 25ppg scorer unless he adds a 3PT shot. You can see the offense will work him to death if he has to do everything in the paint and he's not the size of Embiid/Jokic. He's faster than those guys and we should play him to his strengths.
Yeah, I don't think his court vision and passing are going to be at Jokic's level. Jokic might be the best in those categories in NBA history, almost certainly the best since Magic. Alpi also lacks Joker's outside shooting ability and has not shown the level of improvement year-over-year that makes me think he has high odds to develop a reliable three point shot--although I'm certainly not ruling it out at this stage. The one significant edge he has over Jokic in practical production is that I do think he is already a better overall defensive player, albeit in different ways. He's at least more capable of switching out on the perimeter and is a slightly better shotblocker due to his athleticism, at the expense of taking up less space and not being as solid against really big centers.
It's been 4 years and no improvement from threepointlandia or the freebies. But statistically, traditional/advanced and most importantly wins, his numbers are side by side with 23 year old Nikola. He has taken every leap so far. Next one is the most important one.
sengun more likely to be like larry than joker yes he can shoot once he learns how to just take the 3 and then really fake the 3 it is over for the league mvp in waiting
I would like to see what his three-point percentage would be if he shot a few more of them. I think that his biggest problem is that he hesitates entirely too much when he is open on them. There are too many times where you can tell he’s not sure what he’s gonna do. He needs to be more convicted either shoot it in rhythm or have a plan to go elsewhere. he isn’t pump faking a ton of people and driving around them.
Very unlikely. While Alperen Sengün is highly skilled and has a similar playmaking style, Nikola Jokić is a generational talent with an unprecedented combination of vision, efficiency, and basketball IQ. Jokić processes the game at an elite level, manipulating defenses with ease, while Sengün, though talented, still has significant gaps in scoring versatility, shooting consistency, and defensive impact. Sengün might develop into an All-Star and a top-tier offensive hub, but becoming Jokić-level—a two-time MVP and Finals MVP—is an entirely different challenge.
Are you a joke? Green is at best sixh man in this league. 4 whole years have passed, couldnt you still get it?
getting to kobe's level is much easier than getting to jokic's level, the jokic thing is completely impossible where as the jalen is a 1 in a million
