I'll take the implication that if not for the Holocaust, the Nazis would actually have been acceptable?
The Holocaust was the big one. Invading several countries in Europe and starting a World War that killed 40 million people or so wasn't great. General suppression of civil liberties was also bad. Really though, absent the Holocaust, Nazi Germany would be viewed on the level of the Ottoman Empire. It's really the rounding up and killing 6 million Jews and 5 million other people (Romani, Catholics, homosexuals, ethnic minorities, etc.) that makes the Nazis the villains of history. No one talks about Mussolini the same way they talk about Hitler. Both fascists, both involved in starting WWII, but the Italians didn't really do the death camps, so Mussolini is a footnote, and Hitler is Satan. The really racist **** though, is that the Japanese are not viewed in the West the same way the Nazis were, even though they were doing the equally heinous **** to the Chinese and the Koreans.
Germany, in order to keep the right from gaining power, is once again becoming an authoritarian state. That usually goes poorly for the world
Remember the last time Germany had a right wing uprising, German liberal media placed more fear mongering on labor strikes and blamed labor organizers for street violence more than the right wing brownshirts. Also the liberals media in the 1920s had this naive idea that the German right just cared about hooliganism and if they were put in power they would get bored because they thought they wouldn't enjoy governance. They preferred angry hooligans who hated Jews over labor activists because people who own media companies also hate labor activists even liberal media company owners.
They are actively and physically trying to silence any dissenting voices. They have elections and They managed to do to their ADF party what they tried to do to maga here. Make them into Nazis. Usually the party of censorship is not the good guys. They are saying free speech is fascist. Anyone not voting for the left is an enemy of the state. People are getting locked up over SM posts It’s 1984 dude 2+2=5
I'm telling you the last time the right wing in Germany was taking over, the neo liberals didn't do the suppression. They in fact believed it was more like a phase of angsty teens type of movement and the moment these people actually get into governance will get bored of it. Also given that the liberal establishment at the time was having a war with labor activism(the commies), they took sides with the Nazi street thugs over the laborer activists in street brawls in many establish papers during that time period. The media outlets wrote articles about the labor activists tanking the economy and giving cover to the Nazi street thugs by saying they were a natural reaction to the labor strikes which in essence was defending the Nazi street thugs. Germany after WW2 saw that and believed they needed to do the exact opposite and restrict speech on Nazi rhetoric. You can think of that a a mistake or not but I'm telling you that your perception of what happened in Weimar Germany was wrong. Nazis had free reign. Hitler had to do something as violent as starting a literal violent coup attempt with the Munich Beer Hall Putsch that Hitler got a few months in prison for having a grand time becoming even a stronger political influencer. But it took literally violence for the Weimar Republic to do any sort of "suppression". Also if suppressing your speech makes you believe in Nazi race science you already were a Nazi. Censorship didn't make these people Nazis. Online radicalization did.
