Championships depend on how much cap space his next contract is going to take up.

No coincidence he was elite, including playoffs, on off script throws yet struggled in the pseudo 'pocket'.
Difficult to have consistent mechanics in that environment, mechanics that every coach and qb school analyst raved about. It doesn't go away over night. Texans have to fix that iol. All Stroud has to do is keep ballin, let go of the hero ball and become one with check down Charlie when necessary.

    Gotta get this fixed.

I suggest bringing in new players to go a long with the new OC/OL coaches. A fresh start with tougher/smarter OL is badly needed.

Im still upset that in the 2023 season, in the first Jags game, a deep ball to Tank Dell was called back for illegal shift (by Dell) it was the longest air yard completion in history (68yards).

He only has that flick when he’s feeling it though. When it’s not coming out like that, he’s off and looks bad. I guess it has more to do with his footwork.

He needs to work really hard to cleanup his footwork this off-season.

He does need to work on his mechanics this offseason thugh.

Also the 1st team offense needs to play together some in the preseason. Injuries be damned.

It was noticeably different in 2024. What I didn't know is whether it was intentional or not. Perhaps trying to see if less movement would shorten his snap to pass time?

I would've thought that the OL would've allowed pressure at greater than 5% above league avg. I would've thought the same things for the TE position. This article proves why you dont want to trade Tunsil.

There were times that CJ held onto the ball to long. My issues with his play last year were 2 things, 1. He wasn't as accurate as he was his rookie year. 2. I dont know if this was on CJ or Slowik, but they seemed to always get out of the huddle late and seemed rushed to get plays off or call audibles.

Looking at the OL's of the teams listed including TE's the Texans had the least talented most mismatched group of OL out of all of the teams listed.

The time to throw completion percentage with quick passes vs longer developing passes being close to the same is troublesome IMHO

CJ taking sacks and throwing the ball away was a weakness, there were many times where CJ ran oute of bounds/out of the back of the EZ which was counted as a sack when he should've thrown the ball away. Also I disagree with not taking the checkdowns. Get the ball in your playmakers hands and give them a chance to make things happen, particularly on 1st/2nd downs.

Stroud vs pressure, this is where numbers lie, The OL including the TE's allowed far too much pressure, but CJ didn't deal with said pressure well IMHO.

I was going to go point by point to talk about this articles observations but it's far to long to read/respond too. Bottom line is the OL/TE's last year were ranked 31st for a reason and Slowik didn't do the offense any favors (Which is why he's gone along with CJ/Slowik not getting along from the time Slowik interviewed him before the draft. I'm surprised their relationship lasted as long as it did. Also regardless of what excuses this article says CJ didn't play anywhere near as well as he did in 2023.

lol ok, i mean you're free to have your own opinion, but i feel you're being overly harsh on a second year qb who, as the article points out, didn't have the ability to make changes at the line and had a stark lack of hot route availability.

Most impressive part of this game was Buffalo not taking notes from Indy and Minny. They let our "o line" off the hook.
Stroud ended with the 3rd highest rating allowed by their defense. I think I posted in that game thread thanking Bills' arrogance.
If Buffalo follows that previous scripts, Stroud doesn't even get this ball off. the line's inability to do the simplest thing was catastrophic. but smh at people saying bad footwork but conveniently leaving out what leads to bad footwork.

People are saying he needs to work hard this off-season to correct the flaws in his footwork.
