In a way he's keeping his word by getting rid of the dead weight within the federal bureaucracy starting with those stupid enough to believe his lies in the first place.
i would guess these blanket firings are ai/robo driven and they're not vetted. it comes down to key search terms and the bias of the person who sets the parameters for the program.
I mean I get why they hoped they'd be spared, and they're not described in the stories as being maga leopard face voters.... .. still another story of Trump being even worse than anyone anticipated
Yes - he is trying to do what he said he would do. Now part of it is that Trump has said a lot of things, and often times things that contradict one another... but he has repeatedly said negative things about veterans and the federal government... he has long said that there is too much bureaucracy and it should be farmed out to the private industry.... and he has long complained about what he views as the leeches in society that don't pull their weight. So, seeing all of the poor while people complaining that they are included in benefit cuts.... and veterans acting shocked... and government employees that supported and voted for Trump appalled really shows how little attention people pay to whom they vote for. I know a couple teachers now that are afraid they will lose their job, and figured that Trump was just going after the Hispanics and woke liberals.
Yes - in this story they are not described by Trump supporters, but I do not understand why he believed he would be exempt. Trump and Musk have showed no real love or soft spot for veterans. As far as Trump being worse than expected - no, he isn't worse than I expected - he has had years to prepare for this and I knew that he would attempt to complete gut the US government and the protections afforded by the Constitution and he is setting precedents that will have long term impacts. If I am surprised by anything, it is the uncertainty of Washington to know how to proceed, especially by the Democrats. I suspect that all of this is going to result in new leadership and somewhat of a radical change in Democrat policy and how they operate. The status quo leadership for the Democrats isn't going to survive this - there is a vacuum right now at the top and I do not know who is going to fill that hole. It could be Pritzker (best outcome for establishment), it could be AOC or someone that we don't even know of -- but whomever it is, it will likely be through the media and social media.
It's not even that sophisticated ! It's like the CTrl-f searches that stopped funding grants for disabled kids to get jobs at age 18 "transitioning" or caused them to delete cyber security pages on "privileging" or things like "inclusion" from accounting guidelines
When the proposed plan (Project 2025) grows the national debt by $4.1T over the next decade, it's not about the fiscal health of the U.S.
They target probationary workers first because they are less protected. I think it's as simple as that - not whether it's a "DEI" hire, redundant, mission critical, or politically leaning. That might come later. This explains why they fire FAA staff when the FAA has been dealing with an ongoing shortage for years and federal workers handling nuclear safety. https://www.npr.org/2025/02/15/nx-s1-5298182/trumps-probationary-workers-federal What rights do probational employees have? Unlike non-probationary employees, they have few employee rights. They may be let go without any prior notice or severance. In most cases, they don't have the right to appeal their termination.
This is comical considering the tax cut Republicans are preparing, a tax cut which will increase the deficit even if all the fed-firing fever dreams of Musk and his teenage wild bunch come true.
Most promotions do result in a new probationary period, but not all. Was just talking to a client in HR for DFAS about it. Our base has over 14K Civilian employees, so there is some concern around here.
The ****ING STUPIDITY of Trump. These MAGATS have no ability to think beyond what is in front of their face, they lack depth, it is disgustingly stupid policy. DD
I don't believe this will easily pass .. But I do believe tariffs are a bit of a voo doo to coverup the need for taxation. When their lack of effectiveness becomes clear Americans will unite in need for slightly higher taxation , but nowhere near Europe levels. There will also be the psychological edge of not paying trillions to fraud and waste that opens up the pathway for this discussion.
Are you intentionally posting misinformation?? The Heritage foundation has been openly disavowed by Trump since before the election results and he continues to have nothing to do with them. When you grasp at straws by clutching to baloney, even the valid points you make in the future will be ignored. A few officials mirroring policies doesn't make it the same thing.
