I'm not at all concerned about Reed, because I never put a 3rd pick expectation on him. In fact, I had no expectation from anyone in that draft. I didn't expect him to earn rotation minutes this year, and after seeing his performance this year, I don't expect him to earn rotation minutes next year in what I hope is a re-vamped line-up. I don't fault Ime or Stone for Reed. I hope he develops into a decent sharp shooter off the bench in a couple of years if he is still playing for us. I still think he has the ability to shoot 3's and it is mostly about confidence. I do not think he has the atheletic ability to be a starting PG on a contending team.

Coach Joseph Blair of Rio Grande Valley Vipers he Gameplans for Reed Sheppard.

Players Nate Hinton, NFaly Dante setting excellent picks at a Correct Angle to Free Up Reed Sheppard Open 3 point shots as a PG

Ime Udoka - Reed Sheppard as a Spot Up SG waiting for the ball in the corner. Ridiculous to watch this.

This team is not built around Reed Sheppard. Why would a professional coach run plays for a timid rookie?

Oh that's a different mindset you essentially never believed in his potential and so you're not disappointed.

We're not really talking about him in that context.

-It was a Terrible Draft, There are no Clear Cut Franchise Players before the Draft.

-Most of the Picks I think will take Multiple Years to be #2 or #3 Option or Role Players.

-Hornets Tidjaune Salaun I think can be the best player in the Draft. He is the Youngest and has the Highest Upside.

-If Reed Sheppard gets a Offensive Assistant Coach that has Mike D'Antoni. That will be Boost his Career.

Who sets the Strongest Picks, Steven Adams, JaeSean Tate, Amen Thompson, Cam Whitmore.
Reed Sheppard really needs to play with those 4 Specific players that sets Strong Picks to free him up for Open 3 point shots.

It was just a way of expressing an opinion about his future. This thread is about Reed, so I don't see why I am out of context, just because I brought up my opinion pre-draft and now. Hope I was wrong then and now and he is the next Mark Price. PIcky, Picky, Picky.

    1. He needs to make some shots first before coach even considers running plays for him
    2. He misses lots of wide open shots anyway. Running plays for him probably won’t help much.

There’s plenty of playing time in the g-league for this guy.

This shows Reed's potential. People turning on the rookie way too quick.

He is better than GLeague but not yet at NBA level. There's a wide gap between NBA and non-NBA. Especially for Gleague, players dont play defense so its easier for him to get off and score.

Oh I'm not dismissing, just meant I can't relate. That's a healthy way of not believing in a prospect, I wish some Jaters would come out and say "I didn't think he was going to be good so I'm not disappointed that he is struggling". At least that makes sense.

It's so funny to me when people say he misses wide open looks and then you realize you can count all the open shots he missed on one hand.

Missing open shots is a confidence issue if your mechanics are good and you shoot amazingly well in college, practice and G League.

They run plays for young picks sometimes to get them going and boost their confidence. This is a common thing. There's a weird anti-Rockets mindset I've seen on this board of "why should we give him plays if he's missing an open shot". Well because we want Reed to succeed, we want the points. So if it's possible to build some momentum and confidence for him by setting a couple of screens for him, yes of course do your job and check if that helps. Be selfish, get what you can out of anyone.

We've done that for Bari last season. We've done it for Jalen. It's not such a dramatic big principled deal like "HOW DARE YOU, WHO DOES HE THINK HE IS". Coaches do it all the time, it doesn't mean they decided to dedicate the offense to that player or that it MUST MEAN the player has proved he deserves it or that you're giving up some principle you found yesterday.

Too heated about a guy who's just going to develop 1 year later than we expected, and you will have stressed out for nothing.

He's not developing though. He's scared to shoot and can't play defense.
