Devers is a great hitter, but that's it He is a bad defender, and it's looking like he isn't much of a team first guy either I've never rooted against the Red Sox if we weren't playing them, mainly because of my hatred of the yanks And I have been a huge Bregman fan his entire career. My only two jerseys are Bregman and Lance But I can't say this isn't a little fun to watch If i'm Boston i'm trading Devers before this ends up being a cluster fk And to be realistic, they will have to move someone at some point in the near future. They have some studs on the farm that are ready (or close to ready) for MLB right now and they really don't have spots for them.
Devers just signed a 331M/11year extension. Which teams are willing to take that on? and Devers is also a beloved face of their franchise. How do you not get everyone in the Red Sox organization on the same page before making such a huge signing? Apparently the owner didn't care to sign Bregman. Cora did. and Devers never agreed to change positions. Bregman came in yesterday taking reps only at 3rd base while Devers was missing. Seems like a big cluster****.

But it's professional sports, if you are bad at something you can be moved. And Cora didn't sign the contract lol Biggio moved twice, he is a HOF Berkman moved and he should be a HOF If you want to keep your spot, produce. Devers produces GREATLY at the plate, he hurts the team at 3B The only thing that would make this better is if it were the yanks Also, I know a few Red Sox fans and Devers isn't as beloved as you might think. They don't like the fact that he is so bad defensively, and the fact that he doesn't care to do what is best for the team has all the ones I know pretty pissed Hopefully they play Devers at 3B, Bregman at 2B, and defense costs them games The only team I want to win is the Astros
He's a better hitter right now, but he's never been a better player. Each year that Devers has been in the league - 2017 through 2024 - Bregman has had a higher WAR than Devers, except for 2021 when Bregman missed 70 games. That said, you're certainly correct about the larger point that Bregman is unlikely to become a new superstar in Boston or a face of baseball.
When you are a free agent, you don't put anyone first but yourself and your family. Devers is under contract and has obligations to the Red Sox. Bregman had no such thing. It would be stupid for any player to put a team he's not under contract with over his own personal needs.
Devers has 9 more years on his contract. HaHa. I don't blame Bregman for going to Boston, but I hope he sucks as long as he is in the American league. If he had gone to the Cubs, I would've been routing hard for him. I hope Devers sucks as well.
