Tired of the guys being too cool to give any effort (and that includes Amen) in the All-Star game. Used to be fun when guys cared like Michael and Kobe.
The All Star Break should be there but resourcefully and cleverly used for recovery........ Spoiler Scale it down to a mini contest......with incentives for the Playoffs. Somehow let in less celebrities......this is not about them. Kevin Hart should not even attend every time.
if you ended the game people would cry about that too. just don't watch it. i think people like to whine about all star weekend. it's a tradition
I don’t love hockey, but they bust their tails and have pride in their all star game. Is asking for effort too much too ask to honor the tradition of their sport that has enabled them lifestyles that many of us can only dream of?
i was literally about to post a hockey clip. I think lt was like 2-3 minutes into their all star game they had a fight lol.
asking for effort def not too much to ask for, but youre not going to get it. so there is no use watching it. There is no need to be pressed about something that MIGHT never change. I watch for curiosity more than anything. They see the complaints they switch up the format. Players have to care and they dont. what can you do?
We can’t force effort but we can we ask for less ads and more gameplay? Even if it’s just pageantry basketball… like let us see it. I thought the effort and flow was good tonight. Yeah the final game wasn’t a close one but that’s okay. The problem was mostly the lack of minutes for the players and the severe overcrowding of ads in comparison to basketball.
They yield enough revenue from the Playoffs and Games so they could instead of killing it make it much smaller. They do not need to make it a show out of it every time. Cut the mingling and celeb watching to the least amount. An incentive here and there would be great too.
I for one actually enjoyed watching Wemby and Paul doing their cheating......it was a small highlight......the DQ was fun as well. It is something new......a new idea.
youre right. I'm blaming tnt for trying to milk money off their last all-star broadcast. lol this was extra greedy because they knew it was over.
I just thought of a quick fix that some people won't like. Make entertainment value part of the selection criteria. If Jokic or Harden want to mail it in again then they can expect to not be invited the next year. Everyone really really wants to be an allstar but they don't seem to want to be in the actual game. All NBA is still there to represent the very best players.
First off, go back to the regular East vs West format. This tournament to 40 was stupid. Players are never going to put much effort into the games because they don’t want to get injured and it a celebration game, anyways. One change I’d make would be to have the winner of the ASG get home court advantage in the Finals. Doesn’t baseball do this? Or did I make that up. Players on both sides on contending teams are going to want to win that game. It would make for an interesting 4th quarter.
Could definitely do without the game. I'll watch the dunk contest and three post contest. Get rid of the rest
Random thought The whole league gets a week of downtime before, every team takes 5 of their own players to play in a “3 on 3” round robin, double elimination tournament within their division then conference then finals for real playoff birth. (If the winning team already makes the playoffs then use the play in game like the other conference does.) Keep the games short like to 21. All-stars (only one all-star per team) compete only each other in horse, 3 pt, and dunk contest while being mic’ed. They can’t “sit out”. Who says what and who steps up?
The highlight was the 8 second call. It is sad it has come to this. The league asked for effort, and they got less. If you are thinking about shooting something dead tomorrow, you should shoot it today.
I hated how many breaks in the action there were, and Kevin Hart was an absolutely unnecessary addition to the broadcasting crew. Just overall a weird game, and our two representatives didn’t even get to play that much… I know ending the game altogether isn’t the answer, but there’s a reason why most of us don’t care much for the ASG and the players care for it even less
Yeah the players weren’t the problem this year. The broadcast with the insane amount of commercials and bloated unfunny bits and unnecessary concert from artists nobody cares about was the issue that made the event unwatchable. I’m guessing this issue was mostly because TNT was losing the NBA and Turner was just trying to milk every dollar they could out of it with ad revenue but the NBA should have had some oversight of this and been able to dictate some of that being tightened up. Because everyone should have been able to see how unwatchable the event was. I wanted to watch the last round but I just could stomach more commercials and then after that get more Kevin Hart and then MORE commercials. So the players playing half a$$… I totally get it now. In years past they have been a bit part of the problem. Now…. The NBA and TNT especially proved they own how awful the event has become more than the players.
