They probably need to tell Amen and Tari to stop blocking his ass in practice, then making fun of him j/k — in fairness, I wouldn’t say he is timid on defense. And I do like how he quickly forgets the last play and moves on … doesn’t sulk
Here my Hope: While he has perfect-looking mechanics, I believe he’s been working on a quicker release. Rockets fans here and on RocketsWatch/X call it rushing his shot. We’ve even seen him catch passes at eye-level and not even c o c k it, but rather just fire from eye-level (like a free throw). I mean, it’s not rushing your shot, if it’s intentional in order to get the shot off. We never said Garry Bird was rushing his ultra-quick release. If that is his intention, I like the idea, because everyone his size needs a quick release if they intend to shoot at volume while being chased in this league. So, m that said, he still misses badly on wide open shlt when taking his time.
Reed Sheppard for sure Jalen at least tried, he just failed Reed didn’t even score in an exhibition game…rookie Jalen in Reed’s place isn’t going scoreless
No I'm not saying Devin Carter should be ROTY. But Carter had left shoulder surgery in July to repair a torn labrum and was suppose to be out 6 months, which means around late January. He came back a month earlier. Grant it his left shoulder is not his shooting arm/hand. Because he dives on the ground and throws his body around on defense, in mid-January he injured his shooting wrist (right arm). What surgery has Reed had, what injury is he recovering from? I wasn't asking for a star at combo guard in the form of Devin Carter, just an all around player that could defend at a high level, rebound, pass/Asts, shoot 3's, get deflections, someone that will allow Amen to focus on defending a wing while Devin shuts down the point guard slash SG. Eventually a better VanVleet (I've never seen Vv as a star). Not sure what Reed is, imo, he is too small to play at SG and he is not really seen as good enough to play point guard in the NBA. So far each has played: Reed: PG (67% of time) and SG (33% of time) Devin: PG (87% of time) and SG (13% of time) according to basketball-reference.com
Scrimmage or not, this is terrible to look at. Every time I watch him do something is it’s like Reed is someone’s little brother they brought to practice. I don’t think this game is indicative of too much, but the rest of his time here so far has shown nothing.
I really think we should get more judgy with Reed about a year from now. he is clearly overthinking and physically overwhelmed. I think that these are things that can be fixed, and there is still potential down the line.
Came off the bench (“we” blamed Calipari) Yes, it was just one game but tournament dud (26 minutes, 1-5 (1-3 3pt), 3 points … look/sound familiar?) Shot the 3 well but only on 144 total attempts Looks like salary trade filler ($10.6M)
But Bobby said Reed would be free of Udoka prejudice and do great.... like the time he got Fify in G-league Lin must be prejudice as well
Castle is definitely a talented guy but I don’t think people appreciate just how god awful he has been this season and how horrendous of a fit he would be in Houston. Reed has been awful also but if he works out he’s a perfect fit, castle would not really be able to play here at all.
