I’m starting to wonder if Reed cares about how bad he looks. Can’t even blame Ime, he got a LONG leash to start the season until Ime gave up. He plays so timid, it’s almost like he doesn’t want to earn minutes. Have you guys ever been the younger kid playing with older kids who are so much better than you but they just needed a body? You’re just out there moving and passing because you’re scared they’ll cuss you out if you do too much. That’s Reed every game. As a 3rd pick, you should have that mindset that you’re better than the rest of these dudes. I understood why we took him but I’d bet on a guy like Castle 10/10 times.
That’s the quality I like most about Castle, dude plays like he genuinely thinks he is better than Wemby.
The Rockets have had 6 lottery picks in the past 4 years. Given a large percentage of lottery picks bust, it is inevitable for the Rockets to eventually end up with at least a bust from those guys. Plus it wasn't like the process to select Reed was wrong, most of the entire scouting community thought he was the correct pick. He is still young so he could turn it around, but everyone jumping on the team for potentially getting 1 out of 6 lottery picks dead wrong is silly.

I absolutely hate timid players. How often do we see those guys pan out? FG%, 3PT% and turnovers can be fixed but can you fix someone's mentality? It wouldn't be an issue if he could provide just anything else but shooting is his only quality or so we thought.
He got playing time all right, and did absolutely nothing out there despite being on a team with all G-League players in a game where defense isn't being played.
I genuinely can’t think of a player who overcame their timidness to be a star. Only example is maybe rookie Yao’s first couple of weeks? But he turned it around real quick and was swatting Shaq like it was nothing.
I was paying attention to Reed the whole game. When he was out there, he was just standing in the corner, never demanded the ball, never tried to do anything. It's like a guy who knows he sucks and just doesn't want to hurt the team or embarrass himself. He looked like he was running away from the ball every time. Weak sauce. Looked meek and timid, even amongst his teammates who are undrafted journeymen from the g-league, and he is the supposed 3rd pick in the entire NBA draft. Pathetic.
He's super timid right now and he can't shoot despite having really nice form. His shot looks good, it just doesn't fall, even when he's wide open. I don't know what to make of him. I think he tries to be a good teammate and facilitate to others, but at the same time it kind of looks like he does that because he's afraid to do it on his own. He looks like he doesn't know that he belongs out there quite frankly. Maybe he doesn't yet. I think he will be a decent player down the line, but right now it looks like picking him that high was a bad mistake.
