    Is it?

Maxey would look pretty good in a Rockets uniform right about now.

I think it is pretty short sighted and petty to decide you will never trade a player to another team because you are butt hurt the GM left.

Haven't walked in his shoes so hard to say.

I suspect it is a combo of the fact that he was coddled to a level in Australia that was a major disservice to him as a person and basketball player.

He literally never had any adversity until the NBA.

The coddling extended until his time as LSU - where he was actually physically out of shape and quickly winded at 18 years old. He didn't attend classes and was seldom on campus. He didn't really care about winning.

He got into the NBA on a really young and bad team and again could do what he wanted without consequence.

Passing - rebounding - defending - ball handling all were very natural and easy for him and he did them at such a high level that it did not require any risk or development for him - coupled with his size, athleticism, length and quickness and he outclassed all but maybe 3-5 players in the world....

The problem is that the assumption was that shooting and scoring would come along in time and that he would at least be a #2 scorer. He easily drew fouls and finished inside - but when spacing improved, he had never developed a shot and was not emotionally or mentally developed enough to handle adversity -- couple that with a serious lack of effort and being emotionally stunted and injuries....... well this is what you get.

He is still an NBA player and a useful one when healthy - would be a potentially deadly 6th man type that can defend 5 spots on the floor.... but he isn't a star.

I have never met or been around him, but I can say when his name has come up around people around the game, I have never heard a single positive thing about him. Comments usually range from saying he is a lazy jerk to a mental midget that is emotionally crippled.

We all like to say that we would do better - and no doubt some of us would with the same talents, but Simmons was just a situation where everything lined up poorly when it came to the mental side.

I have zero shock that he went to Los Angeles as he very much enjoys parties and night life and living like a wealthy man.

There are others --- the stories I have heard about Blake Griffin are really bad.

Didn't Ben say that his aspiration for life is to live as a socialite, or something like that?

"He doesn't want to go to a bad situation. He's reading the tea leaves. He sees Toronto, he sees Portland and then, being frank being the young socialite that he is, he's not looking to go to any of those situations. He's looking to go to the California teams."

Jason Dumas, radio segment with 95.7 The Game in Philadelphia

    Now he's on the Clippers.

Hopefully Reed Sheppard doesn't have a similar issue. We know he can shoot but can he shoot in the NBA?

Stats don’t say everything but I watched the game and he was really solid and impactful with positioning and playing defense. He could really get close to getting a triple double almost every game if this is what his role is.

He has so much less responsibilities
He can literally be Capela with better passing
and that would be great for the Clippers.

A very poor man's Shawn Livingston
No shot but an extra ball handler
To an extent probably can direct the offense in spurts

Not a surprise he’s going to do well with Harden and the Clippers.

Yeah, sadly this is actually really good for Clippers. Harden will 100% revive this dude and honestly Ben is a pretty decent defender.

Ben simply wilted under the weight of responsibility
All that is gone now. . . no one expects anything from him
everything he gives now is just gravy
