I love how he follows his “firing the OC was a panic move” comment with “the defense carried them” in the very next sentence.
Id rather be doubted this year anyway. Last year we were the sexy pick and then crapped the bed. I want to be the surprise team.
There are plenty of reasons why Deebo Samuel would be a great fit for the Texans, if he stays healthy. He’d give C.J. Stroud a reliable checkdown option while dominating short and intermediate routes, forcing defenses to stay honest and opening up deep shots for Nico and potentially Emeka Egbuka or Luther Burden or whoever is here. Deebo is an elite YAC receiver, having led the league just a season ago. He’s a true chain-mover, consistently turning short gains into big plays. Also, his versatility in the run game would be a huge asset, much like how the Rams effectively used Puka Nacua on gadget plays last season. If the Texans can acquire him without giving up valuable draft capital, it would be a game-changing move.
You would have to pay him big money and his ability to stay healthy is a big question. You sure you want to pay big money for a guy like this? He's a playmaker though.
I don't think Deebo is that guy anymore. A No.1 WR should easily get to 1K yards. He's only done it once in his career. He's definitely had moments but unfortunately, injuries do play a factor. Plus, he can't get open anymore.
This is why I would be all for drafting a guy like Darius Robinson/Collins in Rd 2. If the OL didn't suck so bad I would even be on board with Nolan in rd 1.
Good thing he doesn't have to be the #1 anymore if he came to the Texans. If they can get him after release... why not.
Deebo’s issue recently has been staying out of the tub. When on the field, he’s shown to be extremely competitive perhaps to his own health’s detriment, and I’ll take that heart in the locker room any day
