Is that why they trap Sengun too, because he's a poor passer? No!

To me, they trap players because they want to take him out of the offense and prevent him from SCORING......THEY WANT HIM TO PASS!

    That's Basketball 101

You being wrong about something? Unfathomable! Why do you think you see sengun being "doubled more than Jokic"? It's because jokic kills that stuff

You do realize the ****ing difference between playing in the paint vs. playing almost entirely outside the arc?

What you call "HATE" I call, reality.

I don't hate anyone, well, I do hate the convicted felon Trump, but I digress.

I just don't like all the excuses, the guy is basically the same player since he came into the league, slight improvements, but we were supposed to be getting a SUPERSTAR player, he isn't it.

So, I am pushing back against those that are making excuse after excuse about him, when he is what he is an inconsistent chucker - he is worth his contract, but is not a max player, and he isn't a leader.

Charles Barkley said exactly what I think, he makes the game harder than it has to be by trying to do too much, which implies he isn't all that bright on the floor.

I was hoping he would be better, am ok with whom he is, but IMHO, he is ZACK Lavine at the very top of his range.

And those guys don't win rings, and they gum up rosters with their contracts.

I think the team would be better with him traded this offseason.

To Recap: No hate, just think he is an average NBA talent, who we should flip, he is pretty much a bust as a number 2 pick....but not as an NBA player.

    DD

PS. Would be ok trading Sengun as well....as his slowness of foot and poor defense make him a liability on that end.

I think it's a mix of both. Obviously you can double someone to get the ball out of their hands, but you can also double someone because they're really bad at handling it. And even though Sengun is a gifted passer in a lot of scenarios, I don't think he's very good at passing out of doubles. He turns the ball over a lot when he's doubled, and even if he's not turning it over, he very VERY rarely makes team pay for doubling him. He's not good at passing out of it in a way that creates an advantage, he usually just passes out to the closest teammate (a teammate that is being defended), he's not good at finding the open man at all. And I think that's a big part of why he gets doubled so much, because he doesn't react to it well.

The 50 game cut off was a rough guess point for "after the allstar break" since I didn't know the date offhand, where he has his post allstar game hot streak.

That left 32 games after the 50th for his yearly hot streak to occur .... but in looking at the 32 games after that point last year, 13 of them at or below .250. (at or below was always the intent of the discussion even if I only said below)

Hope that clears up the confusion.

The bottom line here, hot streaks or not and including this year to date, his percentage of poor shooting games yearly is within 1.6% over a 4 year span. That's incredibly consistent.

Again, the .250 figure is being generous as a cut off point for "poor" when league average, including big men is above 36%.

    WRONG AGAIN!

Just like why you thought teams trapped players because they're poor passers.

Lol because they do, it’s a great way to force turnovers. It’s why jokic doesn’t get doubled as much as other bigs, even though he’s the best scorer.

I know what you’re saying but NBA teams double team players to stop them from scoring, not necessarily to turn them over. However, if they turn the ball over, that's an extra advantage.

For example, you're not going to see a team game plan to double FVV, Amen, Brooks or Jabari, because they are not going to take over a game but Jalen and Sengun are different. Teams game plan to double them.

That's what we were alluding to

So you’re telling me every player who gets doubled team is a poor passer and not because they are good scores?

There's nothing in sports that's 100%, so not every player gets doubled for that reason. Why do you think Jokic isn't among the most doubled players when he's the best or 2nd best scorer in the entire nba

There are Jalen Only Fans (JOFs) and Jalen Realists (JRs). All of your above arguments are things JOFs proclaimed for years and now you're trying to blame JRs for them?

    - I'm mad he's not a superstar.
At the draft there were mentions of Kobe and whatnot. Ridiculous. Whenever a JR tried to argue that they weren't seeing this then they were shouted down by the JOFs. This happened through last year, Jalen's first three years in the league. The JRs have been saying "he's not a superstar" for years, when the JOFs realize he is not one then we aren't mad about this. Good, they finally understand!

    - I'm mad he isn't showing he can lead a team to a title at 23 years old. No one with a brain thinks we a title contending team as constructed. You just made this one up.

    - I'm mad that he's not a PG. No JR ever thought Jalen was a PG. Another totally crazy notion. The JOFs said "Jalen needs the ball in his hands more" or "That Fred is keeping Jalen's game down" or "I think we should try Jalen at PG." Again, the JOFs created this Jalen as a PG fantasy.

    - His best first half ever is not good enough. Is it good enough to make up for poor play the rest of the year? No. Advanced stats show that first half is not that good, but stats have never mattered to JOFs.

    - Why isn't he making like 37% of his 8 attempted 3's so that he goes from one of the worst shooters in the NBA to one of the best in the NBA in less than a year? I don't think he'll ever shoot 37% with 8 attempts. If he cuts down to six a game and only shoots threes that are good and in rhythm than maybe he has a chance. Jalen should never shoot another stepback in his life, three or two. Jalen doesn't understand what a good shot is.

    Other Jalen lies:

Jalen is being held back by Sengun. (A classic.

Jalen is being held back by Fred. (Mentioned above. We can see now this is totally true. Fred is out and Jalen looks great.)

Jalen is hurt. (This isn't really a lie, but if he's hurt and it's hurting our ability to win then he should sit. Also, many players on our team are hurt.)

Jalen would be a much better player if the offense changed. (Maybe, but so would EVERYONE ELSE ON THE TEAM.)

This is only Jalen's second year with Ime so now we should judge him after his third year with Udoka. (That's at the end of next year, BTW.)

Jalen is a good defender. (This became popular to divert people from focusing on offense. He may be a passable defender now but probably not average. Plus everyone is a better defender with Udoka.)

Jalen's three point percentage is low because he is given the ball with under 10 seconds left on the clock and has to force up a shot. (Watch a game, just one, and you will see this hardly ever happens. Track Jalen's shots, it's dribble around for 10 seconds and then dump off or put up a bad shot.)

Jalen's three point percentage is low because he heaves up shots at the end of a quarter. (This one is super laughable. I think I have seen him do this once in his career. No one on our team heaves those shots because they don't want their averages to drop. Fred may do this every once in a while. Jalen - definitely not.)

Jalen can't be stopped by one defender so they have to double team. (A good defender can shut Jalen down much of the time. He is not skilled enough to get by one defender if he is tops in defense.)

It's Silas' fault and now Udoka's fault that Jalen isn't as good as he could be. (Again, Jalen never needs to change anything about his play or practice. It's always on somebody else that Jalen comes up short.)

Jalen was super after the ASB break last year and it shows what he can become. (And then he came back down to earth after the eight games stretch. Nine games until the end of the season and Jalen played well in two of them. For the streak, I counted 15 games where this streak might have lasted and Jalen was great in 12 of those games. Eight of those great games were against the worst teams in the league (nine with Chi, they had a losing record, negative point differential, and weren't good). The post ASB bump is impacted by teams tanking at the end of year and that super soft schedule last season.

"He is who he is." Jalen will improve some as a player. But he'll never be NUMERO UNO (at least not on a team that can win a championship).

Oh my gosh. I mean you lost everyone in the first sentence because we're adults and understand polarity but I'll indulge. There are only fans and realists? In what thing on planet earth does that even exist hahahaha. I digress.

So here's the thing bro and I'm sorry to let all the air out of this balloon you pumped up. There is no possibility you're right. You're talking about the starting SG who gets the most shots, most minutes, most starts, one of the highest usage on a team that has one of the highest net ratings in the West and better than top 10 in the league.

In order for all the points you stated to be true, we would have to suck a lot more. You can't have that weak a link as you're describing without teams massacring you by targeting that guy every single game. It's just not a reasonable hypothesis with what we know. This would be like someone calling Ime a bad coach. You can't call Ime a bad coach, he has a winning record. If he's a bad coach, our entire season doesn't make sense. So you have to develop nuance if you enjoy looking for opportunities. You have to say: of all the things a coach does, Ime is surprisingly lagging in offensive coaching. It wouldn't even be fathomable for someone to ignore his record and call him a bad coach in general, no matter how many paragraphs you put down. No one will buy it, just like realists will not buy that all these things are true. That's why haters have to call themselves realists brother. That's what's happening here.

Finally, the point that did you in is your strawman. Jalen has to improve. Criticizing the coach for the coach's part has nothing to do with the fact that the player has a responsibility to improve. There are whole development staffs on teams. Those guys have jobs and job descriptions and targets. There's no NBA team who says development is on the player and leaves them to improve themselves. They mainly work together and players with good work ethic also do extra homework on their own. Yes, Silas sucked and Ime is not a good offensive coach. It's not controversial. If you poll that on a general NBA board somewhere, everyone will agree.

You are hating bro. I've seen 2 posters that have never ever stanned for Jalen out of the blue call you a hater on this latest series of posts. I know your mind makes it seem like there are not many where you are because you're so right, but I promise that's not what's going on. Think about it dude, the defining characteristic of hating: you don't even have a point, you are just haphazardly attacking other people's theories. That's classic hating. You don't have a goal or a drive or a direction and are just reacting. That's hating in case you didn't know what it tastes, smells or looks like.

There is a new word that is being Jaded......
    • Green is becoming an old narrative that does not excite anymore with his enormous highs and lows
    • He just is not fun no more as new recruits are storming the league who are younger and have more potential overall.
    • Amen being one of several more to come.

Is he even a winning player? He seems like an empty stats guy but ironically his stats have been mediocre.

Jalen has talent but he’s definitely a rhythm and confidence guy.

I think his confidence ebbs and flows throughout the season because each year defenses adjust to his development physically and mentally. For example, he’s gotten stronger and understands angles better this year so defenses increase physicality with him, trap/get the ball out of his hands, or keep him out of the lane/cut off those angles. His post ASB bumps are probably him and the coaches actually having time to watch film to help with adjustments.

He’s getting stronger but I don’t know if he’ll ever be strong enough against truly physical defenders. He really needs a tighter handle to capitalize on his biggest advantage - speed. His handle has gotten better since year 1 but it’s still pretty loose at times.
