The beauty of KD in Houston is that he would not be asked to do too much He would not be THE MAN but ONE OF THE GUYS If he could get a CONSISTENT . .RELIABLE 18-9-6 for 2 yrs . . . . . He is clutch . . .abet with big feet Rocket River
The problem is that draft assets are finite. Houston Rockets - Future Draft Picks | Fanspo They have 7 total #1's over the next 7 years (None in 26 and 2 in 27), that means they have 7 total picks and swaps to land the superstar they appear to lack currently. What they have in terms of assets is one shot to get it right and spending draft assets on something outside that decreases their chances of landing the prize. They can give up #2's and improve in the margins .... but giving up #1's should be off the table for anyone that doesn't immediately make them one of the favorites.
You could MAYBE convince me this would be true if we got him for free. Or if we were able to get him for just some of our fringe players. But for the amount that we would need to give up to trade for him, when he's over 36 years old, and it doesn't make any sense to me at all.
Even at his age, KD is still such a force on offense. That's why he'd be great on most any team but it's also the reason that a acquiring him would be so expensive. Too much to give up for only a few seasons.
I think the way you're thinking is delineated from the Rockets though? They don't seem to be going for your strategy of "We have nothing we better get a superstar". That's just hearsay "you can't win without someone I consider a superstar" is actually just confirmation bias going on. They seem more like "we have the stars, we need a complimentary star" and those stars are cheaper and less disruptive. I think the idea that we rebuilt for 5 years and the organization will pivot its future around a player who they could've acquired years ago is kind of weird given the core has exceeded all regular season expectations for 2 consecutive seasons now and we don't know anything about them in the playoffs. Why would we go get a franchise player and turn all our pick into role players essentially? IMO they're not looking for a franchise player, they're looking for a star-level shooter which is a completely different thing. Most trade targets we're linked to are volume shooters. If anything the fact that they refuse to fortify this team tells you they overly believe in it. Also, Ime has flat our said Ime and Alpi are stars. I don't know if he's said it about Amen, but I'm sure he will. I get it that 1.5 years ago it was fair to doubt whether that's PR spin, but we're waaaaaaay past that now. Green, Sengun and Amen actually have developed in the amount and direction that he told us they would. The only thing we're not killing it at is 3pt shooting which results in the symptoms of bad shooting/spacing (can't get FT's, assists down, crowded post, no kickouts, have to grab all our misses, etc). Would you at least consider that it's ok that the team has a different strategy?
Is the arena that cold?!!! Haha nice pics, I definitely have noticed you in the stands. You are basically our superfan (Raptors) with the beard and hat like that. Kudos for sharing and yeah as has been mentioned free Palestine, it needs to be said more often on here with all these rednecks and ignorant farmboys spewing hate and simplistic Trump rhetoric. I agree with KD too that we don’t need him and if we give up assets for him then we need to scrap for role players and he’s just a wrong landing away from being injured and never being the same again. I also still do not see him as any sort of leader, best player on a team, a true Alpha, and that’s okay. He just isn’t and has admitted he isn’t. If you trade for a star, it should be for a true alpha who can lead on both sides and be THAT guy for you. No more Harden flashbacks please and definitely also no to Booker.
Yes, I have PF as the position I'm aiming to improve. I have our future dynasty as: Amen (PG), Jalen Green (SG), Cam Whitmore (SF), ______ (PF), Sengun (C) I've sought Jerami Grant, John Collins, Cameron Johnson, Herb Jones, Trey Murphy _____________________________ Those ages 19-24 are too young.......[ teams not letting them go. New CBA, teams don't want to be caught without a chair once the music stops in this era of musical chairs] --------- ages 25-31 are in my time range [combination of experience and price range works best] --------- ages older are of stars that tend to be divas that want to team up with other divas trying to get that last chance of winning a championship. More of a sure thing joining other stars vs young players. Outrageous price range for a player with higher chance of injury. ________________________________ Durant- "...you guys are already really good and young..."
Someone can take Cam too while they're at it. Ball hog and one of the worst shot selections I've seen
If the Rockets gave up Jabari Smith Jr., salary filler and one of their seven picks for Durant, that wouldn’t crush their future plans. They are not going to be able to pay all of the core seven and stay under the second apron when the time comes. Also, I believe adding one of the best shooters, scorers and closers of all time elevates the Rockets to the level of being able to come out of the Western Conference in the next two years. Durant is the best pure shooter that will be available this offseason. Brooklyn wanted the equivalent of two-first round picks for Cameron Johnson, and Durant is Johnson on steroids, even at his old age. If not him, they should definitely see what Phoenix wants for Devin Booker. I think hoping Anthony Edwards wants out of Minnesota in a few seasons is not a viable approach. If it happens, great, but I certainly wouldn’t count on it.
