Speaking of globally... How much do you have to spend on bribes? Or how much can you make with bribes?

Trump freezes U.S. law banning bribery of foreign officials

    https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-fcpa-anti-bribery-law-executive-order/

What is interesting about that is this was the foundation of his political prosecution of Joe Biden and Ukraine for which he was impeached.

So while it is still illegal, he's announced his DOJ won't investigate or prosecute those crimes.

Thats fine, but tell me how is a cut of that magnitude, NOT going to directly affect beneficiaries, its impossible. People will lose these benefits and when the poor lose their food and healthcare, what do you think will happen to them?

Declare yourself hourly, split your salary wage into half the hourly price range. Then work twice as many hours in OT.

I don't think anyone - even tech broligarchy - is prepared for the scale of economic depression that is potentially going to be unleashed as Musk & Trump devastate the economy

A lot harder to get people to pay for your shitty spyware crap products when they're starving - I know these guys like to drive wages down but, oh man, guess who buys all of your ****?

It’s the same old song and dance since Reagan. Trickle down economics. Cutting taxes somehow magically increases tax revenues and jobs while lowering prices.

The reality is the savings goes towards stock buybacks enriching the 1%. The jobs all get outsourced to whatever third world country will allow their citizens to earn slave wages. And prices? Please all dependent on what we suckers will pay.

The GOP end game plan is to force the US into so much debt by cutting taxes that the interest becomes unsustainable. Then they will argue “we can no longer afford any social safety net. Medicaid, food stamps, etc all have to go. But don’t mind that we are such a rich country just look at the stock market!”(that is majority owned by a relative handful of billionaires.)

They’re handing out $4.5 trillion in tax cuts, mostly benefiting the wealthy, and raising the debt ceiling by $4 trillion to cover the broader fiscal impact. This will ultimately burden taxpayers and put essential programs at risk. Their plan also aims to cut $2 trillion from mandatory spending, including Social Security and Medicare - programs we’ve all paid into.

Are y’all ready to speed down this path and watch the trillions we’ve contributed to Social Security and Medicare go to the rich, all while increasing the U.S. debt?

(and of course, this follow the Project 2025 blueprint)

If you didn't know Republicans were going to cut your food stamps and medicaid to give more money to the rich when you punched the ticket for Trump, lord help you. If you think it'll somehow work out for you anyway with some trickle down, make the pie higher bs, I don't know what to tell you.

People don't vote against their own interests because they believe I'm trickle down economics.

They hate the government just as much as Trump. Government being too big is an endless American debate

Yes the wealthy like Trump exploit it

Agreed, a lot of government programs become appreciated by the majority but some never do

My first reaction was, if they aren't motivated by trickle-down, then how does a poor rural white voter rationalize voting for the guy who wants to cut government services he lives on?

Then I found this interesting article about research that found Trump support in rural districts is led by the "locally rich" -- meaning they might be poorer than a comparable city dweller, but they're wealthier than their neighbors. So it may be that these strong Trumpers are less sensitive to financial matters (like welfare programs) and care more about political and cultural developments, and they act as influencers in rural America.

Explain what? This is what they want. One of the only meaningful things he did in his first term was save himself and other ultra wealthy people money.

This WILL get passed because this really is what matters to Trump.

Because GW Bush and now Trump are so bad - the Democrats at the top of the party have become the “We aren’t GW” and “We aren’t Trump” party. Those in the party that have tried to establish a message or adapt the party to the modern world have been punished and banished by people like Pelosi and Biden. Even after Biden’s terrible last year and the Harris loss- Pelosi made sure AOC was squelched.
