I sit court-side so we have always have an opportunity to speak with players… had opportunity to talk to KD last night. Started recording a bit too late. Basically…. Me: We Could have something special here and this team can use you. KD: “na man, you guys are already really good snd young, you guys don’t need me, trust me”. . watching him play yesterday. He is def the missing piece on this team. it’s not (I don’t know how) letting post videos. So here is a link to some pictures from last night. https://postimg.cc/gallery/jdFMY0x
I love KD but we'd have to give up too many of our young guys. We'd eventually be in the same spot as current PHX and BRK when they had KD.
As a FA he could help the team in the short term but there is zero chance of getting him that way. He is absolutely too old to trade any real assets for him. I am against getting players on the wrong side of 30 and he is on the wrong side of 35. We have a VERY young team that is doing very well. The future is blindingly bright. In no way should we jeopardize that future for a short term win now move because we are already winning.
Exactly, if we were somehow getting him in free agency I'd be like "Sure!" I'm not trading multiple first round picks for him though. At his age, his production could fall off a cliff overnight. I understand the thought process of, we're really good, we just need a perimeter shotmaker, but try to remember we're at the beginning of hopefully a long period of making the playoffs year in and year out, and none of our young core are done growing and improving. We have time to wait for the right player, and that guy isn't going to be 37 years old.
Given that Phoenix had a KD trade lined up for the Warriors at the deadline, it's clear his value is not nearly at the level Phoenix paid for back when he was at Brooklyn. If KD wanted Houston, the Rockets had enough to give to Phoenix and keep all their young guys.
KD is an assassin and short termer Two Years with him I can see a championship but Beyond that . . .don't over pay Rocket River
Was gonna doubt you till I saw the keffiyeh bro. I know it's impossible to lie with that thing on. Rock on.
Realistically, he's not going to want to PUSH his way here unless we have shown our stripes in the playoffs. We have to do that this season without shooting, great. At the deadline, it wasn't his choice really. It was about getting 1.5 years out of him, if he walks he walks. Now it's different.
Yeah people who keep wanting old ass stars should look at the Sixers and Podcast P. Blindly star chasing in today's NBA is a dumb move.
Was just thinking about that, what happened with PG should be instructive. You give up too much (whether in dollars/years or trade assets) for a guy well into his 30s, and you better be prepared to get burned.
Kevin Durant is aging much better than Paul George because Durant is one of the best shooters in NBA history. He has career shooting percentages of .502 from the field, .388 from 3, and 88% from the free-throw line. Shooting is not a skill you typically lose with age. If the trade cost for Durant is cheap enough, the Rockets should pursue it this offseason. He addresses their biggest weakness in the short term.
