Marlins signed Cal Quantrill for $3.5M/1yr. I think that’s an excellent value and would have loved Houston to bring him in as an insurance SP for that price.
I'm not an expert. My experience tells me I don't save $500 a year without someone losing $500. I think the major markets already have enough of an advantage.
What do you consider old? There is no doubt young people stream more in general. What is the biggest demographic that streams the most mlb baseball? My guess it’s in the 40-50 range or even 50-60. Your point was that young people are more likely to stream baseball than older people. I’m disputing that as fact and believe it is more about cost consciousness.
Losing the draft picks sucks, but that’s a pretty good deal for the Padres. Also, may open the door for a Cease trade at some point- especially around the deadline if that team is underperforming
Out: Tucker, Bregman, Pressly In: Paredes, Walker, Cam Smith, Hayden Wesneski, Ben Gamel Some optimism after this season, but man this offseason has just been rough. Not sure this team wins the division as it currently stands. SP will be solid, but hitting is a major question mark.
The Astros should have quite a bit of flexibility after this year and should still be competitive with the opportunity to go for it at the deadline if needed. They’ll get a good look at the young guys and see who’s ready to make the jump and who’s not.
Looking at how we stand in comparison to last year Out Tucker great production but played 78 games, so we lose half a season of Tucker Alex, .768 OPS for a full season Big Jon, 707 OPS and bad defense for 355 at bats Replacements Walker and what should be around an 800 OPS. Nowhere near Tucker, but if only comparing to last years team a full year of that vs half a year of Tucker and half a year of a handful of replacements isn't as big of a drop as it would seem Paredes offensively likely is a wash with Alex. He had a 739 OPS last year which dropped significantly after his trade to the Cubs. 840 the year before with 31 HRs and coming to a home park that fits his swing like a glove So whoever picks up the other OF at bats or DH at bats when Yordan is in LF is basically replacing Jon. Meyers already played 148 games last year, so it ain't him. I don't think Dubon picks up more than the 402 at bats he had last year. It's likely can one of the young guys out produce what we got from Jon last year, and I don't think that's too much of a stretch. I think what will define this team is pitching health. We have good talent there, but are scary thin in the rotation. And as much as some complained about Pressly performance last year, he was still a solid arm out there that has to be replaced. Pen arms are so hard to count on outside the guys who have done it over and over. There is a HUGE list of guys who look good one year then fall off a cliff the next. We should know that as well as any fan base
Would love to bring in an outfield bat before ST. I know the options are slim, but I really hope it’s not Verdugo. Make a trade
Well, Dana Brown, all eyes are on you and the development staff. We need Brice Matthews, Cam Smith and Miguel Ullola to become stars.
I just don't think it's gonna happen unless we pulled off something big I don't think Crane agrees to go back into the tax for a middling upgrade. And I don't think Dana wants to block getting a good look at the young guys unless it's for a major upgrade Signing someone who isn't a major upgrade just doesn't seem like how either Crane or Brown do business to me
