Amens career DRB% is 19.3, Eason 19.7% and Jabari's is 20.1% so all virtually indistinguishable. Their career defensive rebounds per 36 are separated by just 0.2, and for this season in particular Smith is the worst defensive rebounder of the 3
We’re deep. Deeply flawed. We need everybody to make this team complete because every player has shortcomings. Amen can’t run an offense. And can’t beat his man one on one. Jalen is Jalen. FVV is undersized. Tari has brain farts. Sengun has defensive issues and may be hurt. Dillon is athletically underwhelming. Can’t defend on the perimeter and bad rebounder. Jabari can’t move laterally on offense and has dribbling limitations
I mean, but the sum total of that makes up one of the best teams in the West that's going through it's first real losing streak. We have 2-3 starters out most of the past month and we're still like 5th in the West. Depth doesn't really mean the starter goes and you don't miss a blip. I think honestly no one is deep enough to withstand losing 2-3 starters without being majorly affected except title favorites or tanking teams.
I agree . I’ve thought along that this teams biggest identity is strength in numbers. They’re at their best when everybody is involved and healthy. The terror twins were at their most dynamic back in November
When Jabari went down, his defensive win shares, DPM and/or DRTG were not the best on team. The entire team has slid on defense but they definitely miss Jabari, just not to the extent that you characterized. It's obvious that Rockets injuries to Jabari, Alp and Fred combined has affected minutes/rotation to undermine efficiency and efficacy to detriment of entire team.
Jabari averages 6.5 REB and 1 BLK as starter this season. Amen averages 8.0 REB and 1.2 BLK this season. Amen averages 10 REB and 2 BLK as starter.
I agree the numbers favor Amen but Amen grabs a lot of offensive rebounds. Our defensive rebounding has fallen from 11th to 28th since Jabari went out. A lot of that isn't just numbers, Jabari helps box out and creates a shooting threat from the 4 position so that Amen/Bari can run in and grab rebounds when the floor is spaced. Right now having Amen and Sengun as the 4 and 5 gives us very little spacing because neither can shoot consistently. Add in Jalen Green and Tari Eason's up and down shooting and its obvious why our rebounding and defense have fallen off the charts. Im most excited to see a super athletic lineup of Fred VV Jalen Green Dillon Brooks Amen Thompson Jabari Smith
We’re coming up on 6 weeks. Will he return after ASB? I hope so. We desperately need everyone back. As someone above stated, we’re a “strength in numbers” team. Everyone has a part to play.
We have the slowest injury recovery in the league it seems. Between Tari's mystery injury last year (and this year) and Bari's hand this is nuts. Tillman stop being cheap.
Hopefully Fred will be good to go on the 21st too. Get everybody healthy and make a push to regain a top 3 seed.
LOL. Cherry picking one career stat to make a point. This is this year's comparison. https://stathead.com/sharing/Ip7Xh Jabari is better at virtually every stat and in rebounding by a lot.
The rebounding rate and per 36 numbers are for their career averages, but for this season alone Jabari is the lowest.
