https://www.fantasylabs.com/nba/on-off/ It was the first result on google fwiw. And while there is some discrepancy with nba.com and cleaningtheglass, overall they all paint a similar picture it seems.
Just wanted to say currently Rockets defensive win shares ranking: Jabari Smith - 10th FVV - 16th Dillon Brooks - 25th Amen Thompson - 26th Alperen Sengun -27th Jalen Green - 59th We need Jabari and FVV to return badly because they are statistically our best defenders. Amen would probably be top 10 if he started more games early on in the season.
The worry with Reed is that the reason he did not get off that many shots in college was not because he was reticent, or "played the game the right way," but that he has basic physical limitations that he will never get past. Jimmer Ferdette?
Lol his occasional 25 point games? 5 times he has had 25 and up in 188 games. 1 time this year (28) 2 last year (31 and 28) 2 rookie year (30 and 27)
I think to get to the spacing you want with Amen in the starting lineup, Alpi needs to become more of a threat from outside. Amen's shot is progressing but Alpi has to broaden his game. I think the game against Dallas showed how much we miss Jabari but even more so, that Sengun is really not a true center but a TWEENER. Im curious to see how he's going to play in the Playoffs, how he's going to matchup
Probably should have added the 11+ rebounding games, he has more of those bigger games. Likely a mix up with Amen and Dillon, those had a lot of 20 pt games this season.
That's what I thought too. But Tari's health concern is a blow to the depth. Without him and Jabari, we are down to Brooks, Amen, and Tate to man the 3, 4 spots. Tate is supposed to be the 10th guy. Jeff had to play when Tari is not available. You may count Cam in at the 3. But then Amen is also used at the 1 spot because we just don't have any reliable backup PG.
amen and DB dont rebound like Bari. its the defensive rebounding (and the defense) that's what we are missing.
Amen is actually the best rebounder of the trio, but that's because we don't ask him to take 3's like Jabari and he spends a lot of time in the dunker's spot. DB is a catastrophe with rebounding, legitimately one of the worst at his position in the NBA whether at the 3 or 4. He's got great size and not a lot of speed, it should be a strength of his but he has no lift and limited wingspan. We're desperately lacking those qualities Bari brings in terms of rebounds and blocks. There's literally nothing Brooks is doing that can't be done better by FVV/Amen/Jabari as defenders. FVV is better at guarding smaller guys, Jabari better at guarding 4/5's and Amen is better at guarding almost everyone. Shooting is really why we've needed Brooks but I don't think Brooks creates more spacing than Jabari - I think Jabari's defenders don't sag off him as much. Really hope Ime makes the right decision rather than suddenly becoming non-confrontational and overly diplomatic in such a selective way.
most of Amen's rebounds are offensive. It's why our defensive rebounding is so bad. Amen hasn't made up for bari's defensive rebounding.
How are you measuring that bro? Amen is our SF mostly guarding SG/SF's and mostly guarded by SG/SF's. He's destroying our ex-SF Dillon Brooks in terms of rebounding. Dillon Brooks got moved to PF and he's the worst rebounder in the NBA there (and one of the worst at SF). I think you're confusing two issues. We are asking our SF to fill in for our PF, he's not a terrible rebounder is he doesn't get as many defensive rebounds as our PF who grabs rebounds precisely so Amen can take off in transition. Amen and Jabari would undoubtedly make the best rebounding duo of the bunch. I doubt you disagree with that part at least?
