Well, this is the Rockets organization we're talking about here......i.e., D-Mo will be right back, ready for the playoffs (long pause) next season. (Oh, wait, no new contract for D-Mo anyway, PSYCHE!)
If he is already participating in shoot-arounds, I don't see why he'd miss another month. Seems likely he'll come back after the ASB
Dillon better defending certain players, i.e. Wemby + Gobert, but he is below average rebounder + rim protector. Even regularly boxing out is a challenge for him. Jabari energy + communication is also sorely missed.
Idk who Frank is but if I may be frank, that lineup is +2.3, 3rd most used lineup. So like, Frank sounds like a podcaster who gets views on hate posting and you should just google **** yourself.
Out of curiosity I actually did google this. The 5-man lineup you proposed (Jabari/Amen/FVV/Alpi/Jalen) played for 74 minutes this year with a +0.68 net rating. That same lineup with Brooks instead of Jalen played for 56 minutes and had a +31.73 net rating. If we just compare Jalen with Brooks, when Brooks was on the court this year and Jalen off, the Rockets have been +17.95. When Jalen was on the court and Brooks off, the Rockets have been +2.43. Anyways I have no idea who this Frank is, but he probably just looked at the Rockets stat and said what he said.
Where are you getting these numbers? Same essential story, but... I get -4.4 Net Rating on NBA.com and -2.0 on Cleaning the Glass for Jabari/Amen/FVV/Alpi/Jalen. I get 30.5 Net Rating on NBA.com and 31.1 on Cleaning the Glass for Jabari/Amen/FVV/Alpi/Brooks. As long as rotation players are on the floor, the Rockets have performed better with Brooks instead of Green in every lineup that doesn't have the dreaded Tari-JSJ pairing which is especially bad with Brooks. The FVV-Amen-Sengun lineups heavily favor Brooks.
I could be wrong but I think 4-8 weeks estimate was if he undergoes surgery. But since he’s letting it naturally heal, it will take longer
I think the Rockets said it would be a week longer so make it 5-9 weeks. I'm guessing JSJ will be back before the 9 weeks are up.
Rockets need to get a TRUE 7ft Center. Alpi is a tweener. However, when Jabari gets back, I think a lineup of; C- Alpi PF- Jabari SF- Amen SG- Jalen PG- FVV Will give us the size we need. Also, I think Ime need to play Landale more. I would love a 2nd unit of; C- Adams PF - Landale (he can hit the 3pt shot and he's mobile) SF - Tari SG - Cam PG - Holiday
The Rockets need both Jabari and Fred healthy. We are not as deep as we thought. Tari and Adams can't play full-time. When we have two rotation players down, even the 10th-12th guys have to play meaningful minutes.
I for one thought the Rockets were very deep at 3 and the 4 and could basically handle any injury besides one to FVV. I had hoped Reed would fill the gap behind FVV. Other than Reed not being ready, I feel very good at how I thought about the Rockets depth.
Yeah, the depth would look a lot better if Tari/Steve-O could actually play starter minutes every game when called on. Since they can't, it means a lot of Tate and Landale ordinarily, which is not so good.
so my issue continues to be a lack of shooting and spacing. Our backcourt is simply not able to shoot efficiently enough to make best use of Amen and Sengun. While I certainly think Amen should start over Dillon, it absolutely hurts our shooting, and that’s already our biggest weakness. So going back to the original starting lineup for the rest of this season isn’t unthinkable to my mind, even if Amen has clearly demonstrated that he’s a starting caliber player. Retooling the back court this offseason is critical if we are going to take the next step. That’s why I really think we need to be very careful giving Fred starter-level extension money, and we need to really assess how much we want Jalen to be our long-term starting shooting guard. At some point we’ve got to prioritize fit over raw talent and I hope that starts this offseason.
