now shooting 30.6% from the field and 27.4% from deep after 37 games has only attempted 10 free throws on the season this is an all-time horrible season for a rookie…he does not look like he belongs any scrub can play well in the G-League…Ty Ty Washington had a 50 point game with the Vipers
if you're going to be undersized, you better be a generational playmaker like trae young or a generational shooter like steph. he's neither.
i don’t understand how a supposedly elite shooter can brick so many easy/open shots literally every single game he’s in
Because you can only call them elite shooters once they shoot lights out in the Playoffs. Not in college.
It's crazy that we drafted such a good shooter and the only thing the kid can't do is shoot a ****ing ball. Whole ass team can't shoot. Go check the height and angle of the rims at the new practice facility. They clearly aren't setup correctly.
Looks like an all-time bad pick for this organization, but there are some occasional glimpses of what he might become. I'm afraid he played himself right back out of the rotation again today though. I still want to see him in the G League. He's just not getting it done in the NBA. He's very obviously not ready yet.
it's all mental. some guys just can't make the leap from amateurs to pro and it's not about talent. this reminds me of what jvg had to say about ryan bowen that he'd make all his shots even 3ps in practice and was a leading scorer in college but just couldn't in a nba game. still it's only his rookie season.
Jalen Green 36% from 3 Reed Sheppard 27% from 3 JG 6'4 RS 6'1 Guess who this is about? Not sure why you keep crapping on JG when he is actually an NBA player and keep babying Sheppard, but you do you.
To me whats the most alarming is the 10 fta.Thats like Ben Simmons behavior of not trying to go to the rim. If a player's 3 pt shot isnt going in you'd think he'd try to go to the rim to get fouled.
You guys are pathetic, constantly ragging on a rookie who’s barely played any meaningful minutes in the nba except a couple of games. His minutes have been largely inconsistent. All of the core with the exception of Cam has had a ton of minutes for years with a long leash to work through their mistakes. Reed hasn't had that luxury. Most rookies don’t look that great right out of the gate. He will look a lot better next year with more training to get his body stronger and more minutes which will increase is confidence and play. To make judgments about his future with less than 1/2 a season under his belt is just stupid.
He averages 12 mins a night, thats like 1 quarter every game and so far he has played 37 games. Thats not a lot of mins but also isnt unsubstantial minutes. The only reason he stopped getting mins is he is so bad he fell off the rotation lol. Thats no one's fault but his own. I hope he plays great next year since we spent a top 3 pick on him but that doesnt erase his bad performance this season. People have no such guilt ragging at Jalen and Cam but Jalen is only 2 years older than Sheppard and Cam is the same age as Sheppard. These are all technically around the same age so if you can rag on one player you can rag on them all.
Reed Sheppard height: 6'-2. Jalen Green height: supposedly 6'4" but he never measured at the combine. Here's the real funny one: Reed Sheppard weight: 182 lbs Jalen Green weight: 186 lbs (year 4!!!!) I just find it funny that he lists those things as reason to rag on our rookie and not our year 4 supposedly star in the making shooting guard. And JG is 35% from 3 not 36% do you just like to make stuff up? Can't even round right. Congrats in year 4 he's 1% away from hitting league average. Do you think Reed is 35% from 3 in his 4th year?
You raise such a crap about 1% But then give Reed Sheppard an extra 0.25 inches? Sheppard is only 6'1.75. Jalen Green is clearly 6'4 or taller, just look at him compared to FVV or even Reed Sheppard. If hitting 35% is so easy why is Sheppard 27% from 3? You have all these lofty projections about Sheppard he hasnt even cleared Jalen's rookie year. How about he stops scoring at a horrific 40% TS first before you start acting like he is gonna smoke Jalen? lol I dont really about how long they are in the league I care more about their age and their current production. Jalen Green just turned 23 and Reed Sheppard is gonna turn 21 this year. Roughly a two year gap between the two even if you say one is a rookie and one has 3 yrs experience it doesnt really matter when the rookie is playing so bad.
Jalen Green at least looks like an NBA player with his speed & athleticsm - hell he went for 30 in his 2nd game iirc Reed Sheppard looks like a guy from the rec center down the street, not even the "guy who used to play D3" guy. Like if I was watching that "Last Chance U" show on Netflix he'd be one of those randos from the team that they don't bother to profile
At least he's looking a little more aggressive on offense since coming back up. Let's be patient. There's no good in labeling him a bust already. Man, I hope he doesn't read these comments.
Yeah, the mental part is important for a shooter. Some shooters never overcome the barrier. But I'd say most do. Jabari was drafted for his shooting (and defense). He shot terribly in his rookie year and many people said he was a bust. I think he still has some mental blocks. But he improved a lot since his second year. So there's hope for Reed.
