This losing streak sucks. Considering how great we had started off the season. Losing at the last second in Memphis, going toe to toe with NY in MSG and then giving away the Brooklyn game on mental errors and the other one on fatigue and maybe a little bit of our own arrogance. We got the full Anthony Davis experience today. What amazing player when he is locked in and focused, And then he goes out with some sort of little injury. Dallas is going to live this reality for the next couple seasons. Congrats to them. I saw a lot of number 77 jerseys in the crowd today, and we know that they have committed the ultimate sin as a franchise. We’ve only been blown out in one of these games, and that was the game that we came out unprepared and weak. We are missing the steady presence of both FVV and Smith. We have seen significant improvements this year in my opinion of essentially every player outside of Reed. And I am not worried about him. Even Dillon Brooks (shooting a bit too much imo) Has played very, very well. I would not get lost in the last 10 days. The talent and productivity of these players already considering their young ages across the board is staggering. Amen Thompson will almost clearly be a superstar level talent. All of these other young guys have undetermined ceilings, and that includes Jabari Smith. Remember that Smith had been playing well before injury. We are likely to have a decent draft pick if we want to continue to bring in young talent, and we are loaded with draft over the next 5 to 6 years. I just think we are so well positioned. Other than Wemby, I think Thompson is the best prospect over the last few years to come out. We might win a playoff series this year and we might not. I think that the future of this franchise is uniquely bright. Progress is never linear. 22 year olds will continue to get better. Young players improve fast. We still have a good chunk of season left before the playoffs. If we are healthy, we are going to be tough against anyone. I believe in this group of players, and how the organization is being run. This little losing streak will be for the best in the long run.
Thanks OP, appreciate the perspective and optimism. Easy to get caught in the (admittedly disappointing) moment, but the big picture is still looking good.
Relegate us. We don't deserve to be in the playoffs. dramatic enough? I like the positivity way to0 many floating turds in the game threads. Just wish we had an adrenaline shot available to spark the team when the starters rest.
I get that the Rockets are better and winning ahead of schedule so there's no need to panic. And I'm glad the Rockets didn't give away key pieces for this team's future and risk it not paying off. But damn do I want the Rockets to make it to at least the second round of the playoffs to get that experience. The Rockets getting home court advantage in the first round will be a huge benefit for the young guys. I want the Rockets to be more than just a "tough and scrappy" lower seeded team nobody wants to play in a first round matchup.
Thanks for the positivity. I basically feel the same way. Going into the season I had the Rockets at 44 wins, so I underestimated them. I assumed Green would not improve, but he did. Not by leaps and bounds, but a little more consistent, especially on defense. Didn't expect this big a jump from Amen, or Alpi's dip on offense. Expected more out of Adams. It all balanced out to be a little better than I expected. All that said, game to game I never expect a Rockets win. I'm never surprised one way or the other, although I would have been surprised if they won today. To much Dallas energy after the trade. Today's game is the first I've missed since sometime last season. We recorded it, but the Chron pushed a notification, and there's no way we'll watch that stinker now. I'm mildly upbeat for the rest of the season. Go Rockets.
I see a lot of complaining that Jalen, Alpi are "not clutch", but you have to remember how rare these situations have been for them up to this point. Getting good at performing under pressure is something that takes time and experience and repetition. As much as I might complain in the moment myself when they blow it with a stupid turnover or whatever, I'm not going to assume it's a long-term flaw at this stage.
Amen's ascension is more important than anything else that could've happened this season. We have a superstar talent. Truth be told, I don't really care how many playoff games or regular season games we win this year. I just want to see him (and whoever else will accompany him moving forward) to develop. If that means a few Ls so be it.
Hopefully, Amen can get a jumpshot like SGA...only time will tell, but his jumpshot is not crisp at all as well as his ball handling.
Becoming a contending team isn't some constant upwards trajectory with no bumps in the road and no conflict. It comes with heartbreak and losses. Right now, I think the team is going through their 'get humbled' phase, the first one this year, the next will come in a playoff series as much as that hurts. Gotta lose before you can win, after all.
Honestly his corner three and FT line middy are both looking vastly improved over what I saw his rookie season. He's now shooting 34.1% on corner three pointers this season, and 45.5% from 10-16ft. Those numbers are mediocre, but if a guy whose shot was that broken as a rookie is already becoming a mediocre shooter, I'm pretty confident in a few years he's going to become solid-average or better.
that’s fair. And he’s on year 1.5. in the course of a season and a half you have seen him improved dramatically on the corner of three ball and he actually has a nice touch around the rim. His free-throw shooting has also been better. there is every indication to think that his handle and his shot will get better.
When it rains it pours huh? I missed this afternoon's game, but how, as an NBA team, do you get your shot blocked 18 times? Now I'm curious what the record is. I still think we're ahead of schedule. If we can still finish in the top 6 this will be forgotten.
