the pitch to biggio that the crowd booed, was it bad or just typical hometown bias. i missed it.

Just perfect Stros...you cant get one run off Woody Wood Pecker and Backe's pitching one of the best games of his life.

Williams is hitable, not sure why we are not getting the good swings, lots of fly outs and ground balls to 3rd.

He has only given up one hit, but man if our guys would just be a bit patient, they can get to him.

Backe is going great, hope he can keep it up....he HAS to.

    :)

    Thanks for the update guys.

How is there one hit COMBINED through 5 innings of an Astros-Cardinals game, which is the biggest of their lives, in which Woody Williams and Brandon Backe are pitching?

Angel Hernandez is going to be the deciding factor in this game for one of these teams...right now it's looking in Woody Williams' favor.

That's one thing that brings baseball down IMO. I love the game, but home plate umpires have too much of an effect on the game.

Backe is going into unchartered territory....he has not pitched deep into any games as far as I know.

Backe has been as good as I've seen him, and the Stros are looking at pitches in the zone.

hopefully Garner will not blow this and instead let him pitch late into this game.
