he will plateau and the whole team will pateau with him he has to become a significant threat on the catch and shoot 3 the jab step 3 and off the dribble 3 to open up the floor for the cutters more the team is at this level because he is good enough to carry them to it but they are limited need more space opponents are packing it in and making it more and more difficult for him to operate in the blocks and to get to the blocks he has to develop a significant 3
It’s been 4 seasons at this point. He hasn’t improved his shooting a bit. sengun just isn’t much of a shooter outside 15ft
already know what he is at this point concentrating on what he needs to become to be a top 5 player and leader of a championship team
It would have been nice to have Jabari today so we could have sat Alpy the last 5 minutes. Perimeter switches would have been better for us
Probably more important for him to be able to play NBA defense and not need to be hidden with schemes. Minnesota went on that stretch in the end by seeking him out over and over again and this is like the 12th game I can recall where teams consistently gameplan to feast on the guy. He’s awful on defense. He’s not Enes Kanter bad but he’s not helping himself with the comparison as of late.
Alpi doesn't need a 3-ball to go next level, he needs to become a good mid-range shooter (similar to Hakeem) so opposing Cs can't back off of him. When they come out to guard, he can cook them. He can't be just a back to the basket player who takes 5-10 seconds most of the time to get off a shot. He must become very dangerous while facing the basket. Pulling the opposing C away from the basket will open up the lane for drives instead of him clogging the paint so much.
Whist I do agree that Sengun needs a three ball, I am also quite perturbed by these thread titles that read like engagement-farming clickbait ads. “The Houston Rockets Are…” “WHAT WE NEED TO DO IS..” Like ****, I’ll click on it because I’m a hypocrite but finish your damn sentence
Sure. But while hes working on that perhaps Rockets starting guards can shoot league average from 3P% - 34% 3P and 53% TS should not inspire any semblance of confidence.
Rob Williams would have been nice, just as switchable as Bari but more elite rim protector + rebounder.
Alpi's career will 100% plateau without the 3 ball, regardless of whether he's good from midrange. It will limit his compatibility with other star players, it will make his offensive require too much energy, it will make him much more predictable as time passes. That's fine though because he's developing it, the board just doesn't understand the normal pace of development. He'll break this barrier at some point like all the others he unexpectedly broke.
