    That's how you know they always get over on us.

    Minutes allocation -> now unlimited
    Pay per text-> now unlimited

    Wonder what the next metric will be after data?

    Takes me back to high school when my parents were always on my ass for texting too much lol. Back then it really was that per message. Crazy how times have changed.

    It's kind of funny how we've gone full circle. We went from questioning why we would bother to text someone instead of call, to becoming a predominantly texting society that would RATHER text than call...and now I can't get any of the younger generation to answer a text to save their life. I honestly don't know how they communicate now. DMs through social apps, I guess. I'm not sure how that is better than texting.

    Man, I'm sayin. I've totally become a texter lol. I don't call nearly as much anymore, unless it's for like a job interview or something really serious.

    I used to be the guy who hated texting, I have done a 180 and if I never have to talk on the phone again, I will be fine.

    This thread was posted six months after the iPhone debut, so a lot of people were still using their 10-key phones to text, which was a nightmare. People turned really fast once they all had a full keyboard.

    Though some loved it even on a 10-key--I knew a guy with muscle memory that allowed him to send texts blind with his phone still in his pocket.

    My sprint plan had free texting so I embraced it very quickly. Hell, we were sending text messages on pagers for a decade before that. We had number codes that meant stuff. I could get some Maui Wowi delivered by punching in 4 numbers.

    No. The lines aren’t owned by a single entity. Carriers “lease” access. It also used to require physical switching operators plus the billing nightmares.

    That's in a museum because I used it to achieve the first two-text workday. Before that, nobody sent more than one text per day.
