If anyone is interested, I'm doing the final 3 shows with the Basics over the next two weeks. I played with them for 3 years about 2 1/2 years ago and they asked me back to do their last 3 gigs before they call it quits. Here are the dates: Friday, April 7 - The Ale House Friday, April 14 - The Satellite Lounge Sunday, April 16 - The International Festival (noon on the Texas Stage) I'll be the goofy bass player! The music is Latin rock music and the Basics have been playing in and around Houston for about 12 years. ------------------ "No one gets out ALIVE!" SaveOurRockets.com
Jeff, if you're ever in Austin we'll have to get together and jam. You have patience for self-indulgent amateurs, I hope...?
Aren't those the only kind of musicians? ------------------ "No one gets out ALIVE!" SaveOurRockets.com
Jeff....Latin Rock? What do you think of Sisters Morales? ------------------ stop posting my damn signature
They are nice people and play cool country folky kinda stuff. The Basics are a Santana-ish type thing. The guitar player in the Basics also plays with Norma Zenteno. ------------------ "No one gets out ALIVE!" SaveOurRockets.com
Man, I wish I still lived in Houston. ------------------ "The bigger they are, the worse they smell."
Jeff, What time are you guys going on at the Satellite Lounge on the 14th? I don't get out much what with school and work and all, but if I can get out there, I just might. ------------------ I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem.
We are doing a short opening set at the Satellite. I assume we are going on between 9:30 and 10pm. I don't plan these gigs. I just show up, play and get paid! Normally, though, that is pretty common for a start time there. We'll only play about an hour. As for last night, it was fun but now I remember why I don't play out as much as I used to. Even after washing my hair, it still has the faint stink of cigarette smoke, my ears are still ringing and most of the day I felt like someone had stood on my head for 3 hours last night. Ah, the joys of live music! It was a good gig though and I got to break in a couple of new basses (one I picked up that same day). All in all, a good gig and decent $$$. ------------------ "No one gets out ALIVE!" SaveOurRockets.com
