Ingram is a younger mini-durant. I would've done the equivalent of Tate, Jock and a protected first for him.
It will be interesting to see what Toronto offers Ingram for his next contract. Also, how high is Toronto on Gradey Dick?
They only have their own picks or Indiana's 2026 1st (1-4 protected). So unless they put some protections on the pick, it seems bad.
Hmm. Ingram is an odd trade when Toronto is not in playoff picture. That means what do they want from another team that is interested. My guess is that they want young talent that will be ready to perform next season. So who has draft picks or young talent that wants Ingram? Let's explore: Pacers: Pacers are arguably a premier Forward away from being a contending team and they have a ton of talent to barter with. Pistons: Aside from Ausar, they are missing strength at the forward position. I could see them offloading a bunch of small pieces and some picks. Suns: If they move Durant, they will need a piece to move into his slot. Clippers: They are in a yolo season and Leonard is unreliable. Or perhaps Toronto really thinks they can build around Barnes with Ingram, but why not wait until the end of the season??? Very strange trade.
I think Toronto sees a future with Ingram and Barnes. I don't think they are positioning themselves to trade him away for more pieces.
