Sounds like Alonso is going to try to piggyback on Vladdy Jr.’s free agency next year and see if he can get a bigger deal. The thing is- the Blue Jays are probably going to have to significantly overpay Vladdy in a desperate attempt to keep him and Pete is going to be expecting big money again, just to see the market for 1B stay pretty stagnant.
Down last two years. 2.1 fWAR last year and 2.8fWAR the season before (or roughly 122 wRC+ across both seasons). He's in the middle of his "prime" and not producing star level.
That’s a really good value for Alonso. Hate to see good players give discounts to teams that are already outspending everyone.
Any chance Breggy seeks this kind of deal? A Boras one year high AAV with an opt out to try to get same total value.

They are probably realizing there are a limited number of MLB contracts. They may have to accept signing bonuses like Gamel or minor league deals.
$30 million for '25 seems like a steep price for the production. Maybe he regains his '22 form. OPS vs. RHP in '24 Pete Alonso .783 Jon Singleton .773
He's going to be a remarkably different hitter with a little more firepower in that line up. He's doesn't have to be the guy and will have some protection hitting behind Soto AND Lindor. Will he live up to the dollars? No idea, but he will be better in their polished up lineup.
I feel like if the Dodger or the Mets aren't interested in you, then you aren't going to get a big contract. They are the ones that drive salaries up.
Too bad, Singleton can't play outfield because he would be a pretty good platoon guy with our outfielders.
Boras failing his non-superstar agent once again. No idea why these guys hire him to be their agent if they are not close to Soto's level.
