Spot on. This is already year 4. I acknolwedge his MVP-level performance in January, I see his highlights, I notice his solid improvements, I also know he is only 22. But come on, this is already year 4. For a 2nd pick player with a hypothetical ceiling as hish as sky, his progress is just too slow and his track record is just too inconsistent. Please also stop blaming the Silas years and stop blaming the FVV/Sengun centered offense system. A true franchise player will never blame the environment. A true "numero uno” is strong enough to change the environment and lead the team forward. It's nothing about patience really, instead, I believe people have offered to much patience.
Yes If he has positive trade value at this deadline I would ABSOLUTELY consider IT if I were Stone...
Poison pill makes it difficult and they'd likely have to get a 3rd team involved. Rockets would only be able to take back in $12-15m in salary while sending out $30m otherwise. I think jalen does get traded but not until summer when the current run is over and after he enters his new deal.
Just remember, right as all but the most rabid Jalen fans completely give up on him, that's when the hot streak starts! Here's to hoping it starts next game.
I think being able to take a player into our MLE trade exception makes that fairly easy actually. For example, let's say Orlando is a realistic team that could be interested in Jalen Green. Lets say they were willing to offer us 2 first round picks for Jalen and just needed to come up with filler salary. They could send us for example Cole Anthony at 12.9 million, and Mo Wagner at 11 million (who goes into our MLE trade exception) and it would work financially I believe. A lot of teams have similar contracts to make this work, it's especially easy if we deal in a 3 team scenario.
It’s funny because I know the next time he has a month long stretch of actual solid play, 75% of this website will insist “this time it’s different!”
I'm certainly guilty of that, I really did think it was different during his most recent 8 game hot streak. So far, it's looking just like the other one.
The drama is unbearable guys. A good player had a bad stretch when the entire team is exhausted and dipping. So did Paolo Banchero, is he finished? What about Steph who was ass for two weeks? Jesus. Get a grip. We LITERALLY told you to still expect Jalen Green but with a higher low and a higher high. We LITERALLY told you he will barely be more consistent in the second half, just slightly more consistent. There's bad stretches coming. Take a xanax or something because if he averages 58 TS% on 45/37/88 splits in the 2nd half we will be happy but it still statistically might mean bad 9 game stretches sometimes. Try to get that through your head. That's why you don't panic when this happens. You ask yourself: does this happen at age 22/23 to other people who end up being worth the max at 26/27? Can I find examples? Here's some more warning for the future: it's going to be tough these next 5 games so please get your b*tching out today so that we don't have to hear it for these 5 games the WHOLE TEAM is going to probably drag through. He has logged an insane number of minutes, games, being guarded by great defenders, playing two way basketball, not even a small injury to rest a little, etc. Other young scoring stars are not dealing with no shot making around them and simultaneously injury-ravaged depth and flourishing as usual, that's not happening for 23 year old stars anywhere except ATG's sir. I do not expect a future max player to be able to do that at 23 seamlessly and it doesn't change my projection of where they're headed. Lots of current star scorers were dealing with this at this age. De'Aron Fox who this board was drooling over - his efficiency and consistency was EXACTLY in Jalen Green territory (almost 56 TS%) at age 22/23. Paolo Banchero has roughly the same scoring efficiency as Green - think about that. Cade is in the same territory slightly higher this season I believe. Maybe you're thinking about a Luka Doncic career arc or something, that's not what we're doing here with Green. With Green we're getting rid of bad habits and installing good ones - which Ime said in day 1 takes time and happens slowly. We literally have people whining that it's happening slowly. It's ridiculous. 27-28 out of 30 teams don't inject their young players with bad habits for 2 years straight. What we did is not standard practice. We uniquely and historically f*cked their development up I don't give a sh*t if you want to sweep it under the rug. It is much worse than literally 97% of tanking teams ever, debate me on it anytime. Fixing a player takes time you've just never seen it done because we never did it for 20 years in the Morey era basically and then in the Silas era. I think a lot of people are just out of touch with what development looks like. This OG fanbase endured what 8 seasons of "Hakeem will never win us a title alone" until he won a title as alone as humanly possible? Late in his career? Jordan started winning at 26/27? Tatum/Brown in their 8th season after a peculiar spike upward in their second season? Just chill guys. Honestly, even when he has bad games, his decision making and off ball value has never stopped consistently improving since Udoka got here. The #1 issue right now is he needs more FT's and teams are packing the paint more at a time when our shooting is taking injury hits. It's going to be ugly these next 5 games with a good game or 2 here or there, I'm pretty sure of that. Buckle up.
jalen attempted the 3 after reed took the transition 3 was a rookie move. why in the world would you take that as a 4th year player? i'm sorry but Jalen is a vet at this point and he should know better. there were so many low iq play in the past week i can't wait for the all star break. won player of the week. plays mid as hell the following week. amen won defensive player of the month and had costly turnover the last 2 games. Ime won coach of the month and now he's on a 4 gms losing streak. it's rough out here.
He's been making some costly errors for sure but frankly bro have you ever seen fatigue not cause errors? I haven't. I wouldn't excuse them if I were their HC because at the end of the day inside the locker room you need a next man up and eyes on the prize mentality, but as a spectator it's obvious they are ignoring extreme fatigue right now. Jalen has been limping for like 2 weeks, I don't think he should even be playing. We just invested $100m and he's not doing well anyway. Just rest that injury imo. He's not good enough to play through injury and carry this team while exhausted, no one ever claimed he's that good lol.
Yeah tonight was the nail in the coffin for me. I’m out on him. He’s never gonna be a star. He’s a glorified 6th man who can get hot in streaks.
