... free Rockets preseason tickets against the Bulls (10th row, club seats). Did this without hesitation. It wasn't until a few people told me I was crazy that I gave it a second thought (though I'm still happy with my decision). I just had to share this 'cause I rarely get to go to a Rockets game, and now I'm giddy like a little girl. -- droxford
basically I had my choice - free Astros playoffs, or free Rockets preseason. I immediately chose the Rockets -- droxford
Hardcore crazy, that is. I love baseball 1,000 times more than basketball, but would choose playoff basketball tix over an exhibition baseball game in a heartbeat.
I would do the same thing, probably. I mean are you even a big Astros fan? Do you even follow baseball all that closely? If so, maybe you're a little bit crazy, but I doubt you would have made the same decision if you loved the Astros. 10th row is really good and will be a unique experience getting to watch a couple of NBA superstars play. If you don't like baseball, then why go watch a game?
Hmm... Astros in a critical playoff game that can put them into the WS for the 1st time or... The Rockets beating up on the sorry Bulls in preseason? You're nuts, drox.
Well, you could have sold the playoff tickets for big bucks, bought the preseason tickets for cheap, and still would have made a tidy profit. Not a good deal if it was just a straight-up trade. Those Astros tickets are valuable, even if you're not a baseball fan. (And, if you're not a baseball fan... but are indifferent to the sport... watching a playoff game in person could definitely change all of that.) I repeat... there's nothing better than playoff baseball. Its ENTIRELY different from the regular season brand.
I got free tickets to Saturday's game with Clemens on the mound. Up in section 105 so I couldn't see squat, however it was without a doubt the loudest sports crowd I've ever been in. (second would be the 1981 Rockets/Celtics game 6 at the Summit). I had about 3 goosebump experiences during the game so no, I think pre-season basketball where you aren't even playing to win much less for a championship is a loser in that deal.
Crazy. I don't like baseball. I didn't follow the Astros at all during the season and I'm just reading the headlines during their playoffs. But, I'd still go to an Astros playoff game over a preseason basketball game.
AND how many times have you seen the Astros in the playoffs? Exactly. This should have been a poll. "Am I crazy for giving up playoff tickets?" * yes * no * are you kidding me?
