Reed was the #3 overall draft pick. Ime needs to play him to see what we've got here. You can't get into any sort of rhythm when you see the court for 5 minutes every 3rd game. For as much as I love this team, it's highly improbable that we win the championship this year -- so there is very limited downside to putting him on the court. Not knowing how he performs in extended minutes over an extended stretch is significantly hurting the value of him as an asset. That is not good for the franchise.
Reminds me of the Steve Harris hype back in the day. "He makes the nets sing" Lot of sour notes came our way. There's still hope but Reed still looks nervous when he plays/
I agree with this. I like his effort for the most part. He does have mental lapses on defense. I noticed him not putting a body on someone for rebounds a few times. He got bailed out by missed shots from the Knicks a couple times. He's GOT to make some shots though. That's why he's out there.
On ball: quicker first step, tighter handle, more north and south action to the rim Off ball: more movement. Get him to do JJ reddick movement off screens with the best screen setter in Adams. Shoot better obviously. There’s clearly a lot fo work Reed has to do just to be a competent backup guard right now. He’s still very young and appears to have the work ethic to improve so I still believe he can be something useful for us in the future.
As one of the few people who didn’t see the infatuation with Reed pre draft and was on record saying that I didn’t see a point guard in him, I believe a lot of people are being way too harsh on him. He was never going to get playing time with the roster that we had. Amen and Cam barely got playing time last season and if not for injuries Cam would never have seen the court. Reed needs time to marinate. He is a scrappy defender and his shot will come. The biggest questions I have are will he ever develop into a point guard and can he be a starter on a championship squad?
I think that's the point, though. Although I like his prospects long-term, there were many loud voices around the time of the draft and especially after summer league that were saying he'd quickly take the starting PG role from FVV, and proclaiming him a lock on ROTY and making comparisons to Stockton and Nash.
why do you expect 10 pts when he only did that once this year? The support for him is fascinating meanwhile many of these fans demonize other Rockets players. If he hit one shot just one last night we either win or the game would be tied and much closer.
Is there any one else that was picked after Reed in the draft that you’d rather have on the team at this point?
Some were saying he was better than Jalen Green day one because he shot 52% from 3 in college. Push Jalen to 6th man coming off the bench and create all kinds of spacing for Sengun. Rookie of the year.....easy !! LMFAO
sudoku being smart by benching commander sheperd, preventing him from being the roy. that way come contract extension time, rox can save some monies. sudoku breh playing the long game. i see you breh...
A 3rd pick that cant even contribute to our team, basically a bust or a long term prospect. That's not what u want to draft at the 3rd pick. Man should at least b able to contribute or something, cant even earn bench mins. If rumors are tru and we are signing fvv to an extensions, what's even the point of reed?
Not sure you are talking to someone I have on ignore? But I'll answer: I had pre draft: anyone of: Dalton Knecht Devin Carter Zach Edey Kel'el Ware Zach Edey (playoffs become half court battle....faster than most big bigs) Kel'el Ware could help us now (rim protection, shoots 3's. lob threat) . Devin Carter defense can get minutes right now on any team Dalton Knecht (put some defenders around him just like they do with Doncic ) (posted 6 days ago)
