    What say you?
I think players like Embiid/PG13/Kawhi have definitely made the owners more cautious

Never, ever forget, that the game isn't about you, it's about the fans.

No matter what you sell, product, service, sports, or entertainment, it doesn't exist without buyers, an audience and fans.

Many people, owners, leadership, whomever get egos and lose track of that. If you forget that you will lose over time

I don't think so, it just signifies that the Mavs FO and ownership in particular are crack heads. Most FO's will continue to bend over backwards to hang on to elite talent.

The NBA is about making the owners money by bilking money out of appeasing the masses.

Jimmy Butler is intent on proving this wrong.

Yea. I'm not sure I'm buying it yet
I think there are some concerns for the players
This has not yet seen the fallout of the trade yet
If the Mavs ticket sales drop ridiculously . . ..

Declaring the Luka trade signifies a new NBA trend away from player power is way premature.
Megastar player power will very likely continue.

The trade probably signifies the complete incompetence of Nico Harrison more than anything else.

    how is that

Luka never asked to be traded.. he just bought a 15 million dollar house

i could agree with jay williams if luka was asking for a trade. Marc stein says luka never approached the mavs asking to be traded

Dumbass Jwill is trying to make up an answer for stupidity. The owners could have got a boatload more for Luka, but they are idiots. They purposefully chose to play for the short term.

Funny how all these people are trying to spin things away from the obvious problem in this trade: it's either a fishy sinister scheme or the most stupid trade of all time.

NBA media people have a vested interest in diverting attention away from the likely collusion that just occurred. If people stop believing that what they see is real, they'll stop watching the league and stop consuming the media around it.

The league all but mandating that a Superstar be in LA at all times, and demolishing a top 5 media market team to do so, and help them relocate, really makes me feel like a total sucker for even caring about basketball.

At the very least, north Texas is done as a basketball market, just like Seattle before them.

People are talking about how dumb the FO and owners are, which makes the NBA / casinos happy because it keeps us from talking about the real reason why this happened. If Mavs owners were truly that dumb, they would have had their bank accounts wiped out long ago by a long lost Nigerian Prince distant relative.

Not just away from the players. But against these stupid prima donna agents. It was absolutely a shot across the bow from the owners.

Do a Kawhi or Zion and watch what happens to you. Wonder what will happen with Butler because that's another dude that hopefully will be made an example of.

It is just the new ownership's signature fear of Luka either walking into the sunset or being too fat to live up to the pending fat contract...

    New brass, no trust....
