Shai flops but he also play 1 on 1 and gets buckets on tough defenders. Jalen can't get past anyone competent and his shot is inconsistent at best. Also Shai isn't averaging like 20 free throws, most of his buckets are on makes.

Jalen must first learn to love contact and dare the defender to try and stop him. For the season, he and Amen both average 4 FTAs but Jalen takes nearly twice as many FGAs. Since moving into the starting lineup, Amen's FTAs increased to 6 (including 7 over the last 6 games). 7 FTAs/game would put Amen at #4 in the NBA. If/when Jalen embraces being bumped and hit, I think he could double his FTAs. Combine this with being more selective on pullup 3s and long range pullup 2s, his efficiency would increase and he'd be more successful closing games.
He doesn't gain any muscle and remain the same body shape 4 years in the NBA. So basically he can't play through contact. In order to get foul call he needs to flop like CP3.
I hate flopping and don't wan't Jalen to learn to flop. But he needs to learn to get to the line. That means playing through contact and also trying to find contact when driving to the basket. I also don't like the flailing the arms around and initiating the contact to get a call, but that's what the NBA today is, so Jalen needs to add that to his arsenal. A player like him should go to the line 8-12 times a game.
Brunson was gross with it last night but we don't have much leg to stand on after watching Harden for nearly a decade..
I think someone posted in the game thread that Jalen's foul per drive isn't significantly lower than Shai and Brunson. He just drives much less than those guys.
Well he drives at the rim full speed then ping pongs off players who way more than 160lbs. He tends to complain for calls after that which seems to be ineffective. He needs to bulk up more than flop.
He absolutely needs to learn to snap his head back and look like he's been shot. He attacks constantly, does draw contact, and then he tries to finish, which is his issue. You have to snap your head back, flail, scream ayyyyeeee, then try to finish. This is something he has to do because refs are incompetent.
