Ime has no clue on offense. Amen was dominant running the point the first half. What does Ime do in the second half. Hands the ball over to Green who was getting his ass handed to him all night by a great defensive player and Amen goes to the corner and stands around. It was totally asinine. Yes, Amen fumbled the ball down the stretch after being fouled, but they were letting them play all night and Amen should have been prepared for that. Cam was playing great and he inexplicably gets benched for most of the 2nd half after he and Amen absolutely carried the team the first half. We've got the players, but Ime has got to get an offensive coordinator and let them utilize these guys correctly. Holiday actually had a decent game for once, but Reed was his same incompetent self. Any question that Amen is not a PG was laid to rest in the first half tonight.
Player wise, I think Jalen already clears Jeremy by leaps and bounds (maybe not as a point guard). Lightnigrod wise? I think Jalen and even Alpi are way more controversial than Jeremy was. Like, I feel like it was mostly rabid Asian fans going crazy for JLin when he was just a serviceable role-player. He wasn’t playing terrible, he brought the ball up and got off the ball - it wasn’t him missing shots that field the Knicks comeback and once again he’s being fouled on drives and not getting a whistle - that leads to a turnover or missed shot and then folks run on here saying he’s inefficient or having a bad game dude is playing hurt and still carrying us to what should he 2-1 record without Alpi if he got a decent whistle how many times is he fouled on this one drive . 1 time by Brunson and 2x by Katt and 0 were called
Another 40-point 4th quarter is sad. But who expected the Rockets to win in New York when they were down three starters? They almost pulled it out. Amen is pretty special. (Coaching needs to get better with the rotation and match up)
The Knicks are one of the best teams in the league and we were without 3 of our starting 5. They've beaten some pretty good teams recently, and by large margins. I was actually impressed we didn't get blown out. We've been shorthanded for a while with various injuries to Tari, Jabari, Alpi, FVV, etc. Even the games we've lost we've been competitive. That 4th quarter was putrid, though.
Rox have their first 3 loss streak and might end up with 4 loss streak considering they already lost to the Nets. The team and Ime needs to pull up their britches. Jalen Green should never have played in the 4rth, he is clearly banged up and playing poorly. Cam and Holiday should have been unleashed, they earned their minutes tonight and Ime iced them for no reason. Refs didnt do us any favors, 15 free throw advantage to them wtf. Next game is crucial. After a loss like this Ime and the team needs to respond. Yeah the Rox lost 3 starters but they also didnt come out with enough intensity and effort. Next game the Nets are so bad and they actually want to tank.
I’ve gone back and forth on how I feel about Jalen’s deal in real time with his up and down play and I really hate he has the player option for the third year but this is crazy. Brunson is on one of the best non-rookie contracts in the league. There’s no point in comparing those deals.
