Opinion piece I know, but replace LeBron (who does play a different position) with Harden and the Heat or Cavs don't win a title. Replace Harden with Curry and the Warriors don't win. Some guys can't step up enough to win with them as the go-to guy

There were both. But the Mavs guy was Captain Jackass. The Jazz guy was Z-Dog, who was very very very on the spectrum. And honestly, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I just feel bad for Mavs fans. This is like if the Rockets traded Hakeem after the 86 Finals. It's just wild. I get the diet concerns. i do. But there are just very few people in history as gifted at basketball as Luka.
As much as I hate the Mavs, I hate when entire fanbases are effed over like this. The outrage is because we have never seen anything remotely like this.
Maybe 2 billionaire friends got together and they cooked up this deal to do another deal outside the realm of basketball, knowing the league wouldn’t investigate since the lakers got bailed out again.
Is there a scenario where Luka plays the remainder of his contract and leaves in FA to any team he wants? LA can’t offer more money than anyone else right?
If luka is all about the money, there is more to be made in LA from other interests than most anyplace (NY might be the exception).

I know Harden couldn't win. He falls apart in big games when the season is on the line time and time again. Some players have that killer instinct and some just complain when it goes bad. He's always been a complainer and a blamer.

Yes, and some GM's go get Dwayne Wades and Anthony Davises to cover their star's weaknesses, others get broken down Dwight Howard, Westbrook and Paul. We knew what Harden was early on, and it was still worth more than the max. It was the front office's job to recognize he's not an all-timer who can carry any team on his back in the playoffs, so we needed another real star. That was obvious. We just didn't or couldn't do it adequately. The best guy we got him was an old CP3 and he almost took down the most talented team in NBA history - ironically until Paul pulled his hamstring. I don't know why the fact that Harden couldn't do it as a Nowitzki or Hakeem or Jokic was always such a big deal. You can't ask that of someone if they just don't have it. Most teams win the title with 2 or more stars in their peak playoff years. Let's be honest. We had like 8 years to get someone better than an injury prone and older CP3. When CP3 showed up the following season, he was the most overweight he'd ever been in his career and hasn't been like that since. He barely made it to the playoffs again with his health. What are we supposed to do about that? Or Westbrook who no one could win with? Or Howard wanted to pretend to be Hakeem in the post when we the Harden/Howard PnR was the whole point he was there and he didn't want to DO IT? lol Come on. Harden is the 2nd greatest player in franchise history. We'd be having a different conversation if at least one of Morey's 3 shots (Howard/Westbrook/Paul) didn't flop. Two PG's (Harden's position) and a C who can't shoot and wants to fill up the paint. Looking back, I wish we had taken fewer but better shots.
