Even if Luka turns out to be a bust for the Lakers (for which I am praying), it still does not absolve the stupidity of such a puny return for trading him. All the talks about the possible reasons Dallas might have for getting rid of Doncic is pointless.
This is probably one of the craziest analysis out there but I’m certain he’s right about one thing: they traded Luka for non-basketball reasons.
Luka is not Zion, he is 100 times better, that said, he should lose a little weight in due time, he has time. Improve free throws, positional defense. The percentage that he totally implodes as a Laker who have the best environment next to the Celtics and others is single digits....at best. LBJ and Curry are the best mentors in terms of how to prepare their bodies Luka can find in the league. Giannis would be the other one. It is all well set up.
That wasn't part of the analysis. Btw, Mark Cuban acquired Kyrie Irving in June, 2023. Then he sold the Mavs to the new owner in December.
This is some 15D chess going on. I think the much simpler answer is they are ****ing idiots who talked themselves into the idea that they had to trade Luka because he was a fat ass drunk.
It sounds crazy and I dislike conspiracy theories in general, but I think this one has legs. The Adelsons are ruthless, they for damn sure don’t care about Dallas or anything other than their casino business. They are up to something ugly. Doncic is the type of rare team-defining player who is loved by the fans that you don’t just throw away. He’s like Curry or Giannis or Derek Jeter or Jose Altuve. This move seems explicitly designed to piss off the fans.
So apparently Luka just bought a house in Dallas and actually wept when he found out he was traded. SMH.
Forget the writing style, but what he says on the Adelsons is very believable. In my last job, I worked on projects for Las Vegas Sands for 7 years, so I got a good taste of their corporate culture, greed, and ruthlessness. Why else would a company like that be interested in buying a basketball team in Dallas except as a stepping stone to expand their empire? Think of the Bruce Ratner shenanigans with the Brooklyn Nets or even Clay Bennett with the Sonics.
Folks are gonna be talking about this sht trade for years to come. I hope mavs gm stay on so we can take advantage of him in the future with how stupid he is Folks still bring up harden and the thunder trade once and a while
Lol at Mavs thinking Davis is a culture setter or leader, that's been the literal knock on him is that he has all the talent in the world but not always have the drive to be great and be a leader. Dude is just going to there and ball. I doubt he's going to hold other players feet to the fire or even care to.
I was joking. I am not surprised that casino people are ruthless. Back in the days, only organized crime lords ran gambling rings. Even in this legalized gambling era, nice people don't get their feet in that industry. On a lighter note, a female team owner trying to sabotage her own team reminds me of this: Spoiler
