I’d have a hard time trading Amen. He’s a jump shot away from being absolutely elite on both sides of the ball. He’s never going to be Doncic level offensively. I’m guessing. But he’s going to be in defensive player of the year conversation routinely.

I didnt realize until this morning that Doncic still has another year on his contract. I have no understanding of what the **** Dallas just did.

I am a homer, but not about player evaluations. Doncic is a terrible defensive player. Amen is a perennial dpoy candidate. i don't think 8 more points of offense is worth destroying your depth and defense for, not to mention the injury concerns his laziness begets. Amen shut down Doncic last time they played. Amen has the best work ethic of any player I've seen since Larry Bird. He is a budding superstar on both sides of the ball. All he needs is a couple of outside shooters on his team to average a triple double. Doncic is a taller and fatter James Harden that plays even worse defense.

It would be like having clutch James Harden with good coaching. Yes. I like winning.

I largely agree with you on being super high on Amen, I'm a little less extreme but I do think he has a real chance to become a superstar-level player. But let's be honest, Luka doesn't only hold a significant advantage on scoring, he's also a much, much better playmaker than Amen is right now. I think one of our main differences of opinion is that my initially high pre-draft assessment has come down a lot on Amen's ability to be a team's primary ballhandler/playmaker. I still think there's a chance, but I think he has a lot of work to do to even approach Luka's level, and I doubt it will happen by next season.

At this stage, I'm thinking if Amen is going to be the point guard or effectively play that role and have the ball in his hands every possession, it's going to take a few years of development for him to get there and it will be a gradual process of phasing him into that role.

Amen, Jalen, dillon, Jabari, Sengun is better than Doncic, Jalen, Dillon, Jabari, and Adams. Both Amen and Sengun would have been all-stars this year if Ime hadn't slow roled Amen's ascension to the starting unit. Doncic didn't make the all-star team, because he is too lazy to get in shape. There have been a bunch of guys that looked to be great that either drank or snorted their way out of stardom. The Rockets had a couple of them. Not sure LA is the best place for Doncic to turn around his lifestyle and I don't think he will ever play even average defense (which is 50% of the game).
