I'm hoping things get really ugly. Mavs fans should non-stop run onto the court and interrupt the game. Throw things on the court. I'm still not over the absurdity of this thing. The Lakers got Luka for AD. I can't even.
That's all fine. I can understand not believing in a player. The main problem is that it was handled by a single phone call to a single team. They could have gotten a much bigger haul, potentially including AD plus a lot more. But they didn't even try talking to anyone else. That reeks of something secret going on behind the scenes that isn't about trying to build the best basketball team.
it’s this 100%. It’s not the the fact that the GM wanted to make the trade. It’s how it was done. There’s absolutely no reason to do it like this and screw your team out of assets unless there’s another motive that isn’t disclosed. Either a) Luka is profoundly injured and only the Mavs knew it (but even then that’d come up in the physicals prior to the trade so I can’t see this) or b) there’s collusion to gain assets that are not benefiting the franchise/fan base. It’s the fans that get screwed here and as others have said, if it can happen to one team it can happen to any team. Silver should step in to do something about this because it’s just bad optics and that goes directly to the value of the brand.
In addition, the move does not make sense in context of what they've done prior to this trade. They have given up pick swaps from 2027-2030, while this trade, even if he does believe will make them a contender now, last at best 3 years, at which point AD becomes 34 and Kyrie 35. A normal GM, even if he thinks Luka is the devil and wants to get rid of him asap, would at least look to take back an actual young star. If they traded Luka for Jalen Williams and Chet Holgrem for instance, I don't think people would be so shocked.
I don’t believe the Mavs’ stated reasons for the trade. Luka is a perennial MVP candidate and the face of the franchise. He took the team to the Finals last year. This trade is not justifiable.
Unfortunately, this is why I can't enjoy laughing at Mavs fans. The one team and fanbase I dislike more than them is the Lakers. The other reason, is I am a human being and what's happened to Mavs fans is almost sadistic. The player they've all completely invested their emotions in for several years was just yanked out suddenly by the roots for chump change. For some, it probably feels like the unexpected death of a close family member. As someone who utterly despises the Mavs (though a bit less without Cuban), I am not happy for these two reasons.
Man get outta here with that, Luka just took his team to the Finals. Btw the 270 and the "spoke to other team" both debunked, obviously part of a campaign because they knew what would happen.
Didn't say he couldn't get there only that he wouldn't win. And Harden what ifs still didn't get him a ring. In the big game the refs will always clamp down to prevent them from winning it all.
The Fans. It was not Hardens fault we didnt win a ring. How about get the guy some damn help that doesnt get injured.
I never actually lived in Houston so I bear no ill will to the Mavs or any fans. What happened to them was a disgrace and if I was in their shoes I'd be absolutely sick. Lakers fans, on the other hand, are the most despicable fans in all of sports and to see them acquire maybe my single favorite predraft prospect of all time like this is disgusting.
