I think a Fox trade would have had a significant positive impact, but he apparently really wanted to go to SA.
Yes it was a stinker. But they were due for one. I'm good is we stay pat, however with all the player movement if an opportunity comes go for it. If we are competitive and loss in first round it a successful season. Than go all in for the summer trade season!
We are not trading for anyone significant this season. We'll stand pat, finish second in the division (as Memphis has already taken over 1st) and lose out early in the playoffs. All by design to see what we have and gain some experience.
So with the exact same group we have right now, we are going to be better than the revitalized Spurs, Lakers, (Nuggets, Grizzlies) and OKC with Chet back??? Same exact squad that has scoring droughts for lengthy parts of the 4th quarter on a consistent basis. Keep drinking the Kool Aid I guess.
What do you suggest? Unless someone is overpaying, let the young guys get some experience and see how far they can go.
I wonder what this loss to the Knicks will do then. We are gonna limp into the AS break as the 4 seed. I can feel it in my bones
Stone screwed himself at being able to trade for a star this deadline by inking the stupid Jalen deal. I think Jalen is going to be great, but if you want a true superstar without trading Amen or Sengun, then Jalen is the bait. I bet if they hadn't signed Jalen to that contract, he, FVV and about 6 frps would be on their way to the Timberwolves for Ant, which would make us contenders this year. Maybe they can pull it off in the off-season before the draft. Minnesota has absolutely no chance of building a contender without getting rid of Ant. The Gobert and Randall trades really screwed them.
I am one of the few that is not panicking over what just materialized around the NBA. I have said it before, Udoka is masking a lot of weaknesses in roster construction and it is indeed difficult to tell what this team truly needs besides a true superstar because the Coach has this team achieving so much. For one you can already ship out Tate, Holiday, Landale and Jeff Green.
We are both on the record. Our current players might shoot well for one or two games....but it takes 4 games to win a series in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Do we actually need to go through the playoff loses to learn that playoff experience... can't we just pretend we went through it last year and bring it this season? Not saying trade our core players.....just the spare parts (Tate, Jeff, Holiday, Jock)
I think the lowest caliber player the Rockets need to add to this year's team that would make me feel comfortable they're in the title hunt is Fox. So unless someone better or the same level as Fox is put on the market, I don't really care too much if they make a trade or not. I mean I do think they should pick up a backup PG regardless because it's clear Reed isn't that guy for this year. But in terms of an actual impact trade, guys like Ingram and Butler isn't gonna be worthy of giving up real assets for.
Unless the Rockets can find a way to trade with the Cleveland Browns for Myles Garrett, the best move is to stand pat and stay the course. We weren't just out Alpi, but also Bari, who hasn't played in some time now.
No, Butler? Nobody wants him because you have to give up too much for a Butler rental He wants a $100M extension,....but he rarely plays due to injuries
