Secondly, there is almost a 100% chance the rest of the country would vote against it. They are not going to give up their federal ports, including naval, air, and space. lol. so stupid. so very very stupid.

I don't think there is any dissolution of the Union that can be executed without a bloody and soul-crushing civil war. Washington knows it would be a fatal blow to our hegemony to lose that much GDP, population, resources, and strategic geography. It'd be a hard slog for an infant new west coast nation that suddenly doesn't have access to all the markets they used to sell in and now they have to build all these new federal institutions for defense and international relations. Rest of the US economy also takes a hard hit from losing West Coast ports. Californians would have to grapple with not being Americans anymore, and Americans would have to grapple with the fact that America isn't what it used to be. Nearly everybody loses in this situation culturally, economically, and hegemonically. So people are going to fight like hell to make it not happen, or at least to maximize their own benefit in the outcome if its inescapable.
