I’m totally cool with him playing LF at home when Framber’s on the mound. Very low odds of him actually having to make even a moderately difficult play. Pretty much the same for when Brown pitches. I do not want Altuve in LF at all when Arrighetti or Hader are pitching.
Chas is gonna hit 25 home runs and make some crazy diving catches and steal a few bags. He’s gonna draw more walks than in the past too.
Heyman said 1 team has a 6 year deal with opt out after the 1st season but that team isn't high on his list. Nightengale speculated the Jays might have a 6 year offer. I wonder if that's the team Heyman was talking about because I saw somewhere mentioning Bregman prefers not going to Toronto.
My take from all the reporting is that Detroit and Toronto have 6 year deals on the table in the $175M-$195M range. There may very well be a mystery team (NYM, LAD, TEX would be my guesses) who also have a 6 year offer out. But no one has offered $200M and Bregman views that as his worth and if he’s not going to get $200M then he’s conflicted between $175M-$190M elsewhere and $156M in Houston. His dream is for Crane to say F it and slap his nuts and $200M on the table, but in the absence of that, he’s at least hoping either Houston ups their offer up over $170M or another team ups theirs to $200M, and he’s willing to wait at least until Alonso signs to see if he can get it.
If someone is really offering him 6/$195mil, you think that'll prevent him from signing? I guess the $200mil is bragging rights number...but it really isn't.
Yeah Who knows…there’s some number north of $156M and south of $200M that Bregman has in hand that he’s not taking because it’s not enough.
My opinion there's no way that the Tigers have offered him more then 156. They may have a six yr deal on the table but it's not more the Astros. Toronto is the other team who probably has a six yr deal on the table however it's not too much more then what Houston has offered and as I said previously it's probably less when you break it down with tax considerations. Plus it's in Toronto. He's going to wait until Alonso signs and hoping it's with a team other then the Mets so that they might get desperate for another bat and offer more then Houston.
Breggy's plate discipline manifesting itself in contract negotiations... is he gonna square one up or pop out?
His best bet at this point is that a team suffers a big injury in ST and panics. Bregman refuses to accept he's a player on serious decline and no team is going to pay him $30M AAV all things being equal.
