It's just really weird because they made the finals last year and then kept the roster plus signed bunch of other people specifically around Luka. Even if Luka all of a sudden became a meth addict, you still gotta shop him instead of secretly going to one team?
Everyone blaming the Lakers and Silver. This is 100% on the Adelsons and whatever crooked nonsense they are up to.
Mavs are fine. They have Giannis Lively in line. I agree that it’s stunning that they didn’t even try to get moar from the entire league. Information asymmetry I guess. There has to be s$$$ that none of us know about.
The mavs did the deal because they think they can compete. Otherwise trade him for a bunch of future 1sts.
I wonder when Cuban will come out with a statement. He sold the team to individuals that fooled him into thinking he would 100% continue controlling basketball operations. He also thought this family was invested in Dallas.
It also seems like they’re trying to shed future salary, they didn’t want to pay Luka. I would give them a call about Kyrie. We could get him for much cheaper than a lot of the players we’ve been targeting and he’s much better than fox imo. Fred’s expiring could possibly entice them.
With the Lakers having Luka now and the Celtics with Tatum/Brown, it's like the opposite of the 80s rivalry.
The Mavs got below the luxury tax with this trade. They are good now. They get their check at the end of year plus get to continue being competitive this year. They could make some trades, but it would be trading out their role players for others. I mean, the Mavs didn't get terrible with this trade, the question is whether Anthony Davis will stay healthy the rest of the year and Kyrie as well. It's a good team on paper if we could all get passed the idiocy of trading away your franchise player for scraps. Mavs probably need to trade some of their role players for other role players, but they aren't looking to rebuild.
Damn it you may be right! It’s just wishful thinking on my part. I would still give them a call just for the hell of it.
