This is definitely fishy. Dallas couldn't be this stupid. I've always thought the NBA was corrupt, now I know it for sure.
I'd probably wait to see what if anything comes out. The fact that the Mavericks hurriedly got this done under the cover of darkness is interesting. Remember....the Lakers post Jim is a dumb organization. I also think Dallas got the better player in this deal. The age difference is the only real sticking point.
The only way this makes any sense is if there is a serious health issue and Dallas did not want it made public. Just told LA and said you want to take the risk or the league set it up by guaranteeing Dallas something more in return. Like BTG said, LA burning, Lebron retiring and LA winning a title is just too juicy a story to pass up.
You must be joking if you think Davis is remotely in the same stratosphere, you might as well compare 30 yr old Lebron to Davis..... Davis is better at Defense and post play, that's all He is not a Center, Gafford isn't it, Lively, we don't know if he can become a star, and he is injured.
I think it's possible but unlikely. The Mavericks carefully curated a roster to fit Luka's strength and weaknesses over the past 2 years . They acquired Lively in the draft and Gafford via trade to have 2 of the best lob finishers in the NBA to take advantage of Luka's vision and passing. Gafford and Lively were also brought in to improve rim protection given Luka's often passive defense. PJ Washington and Naji Marshall were brought in to give them 2 versatile defenders again to compensate for Luka and Kyrie's below-average defense. Their roster makes little sense now as they now have five guys who are best at the 4 or the 5. Maybe they expect Lively to miss the entire season but if so, they will still have the same overloaded position groups next season. Dinwiddie suddenly becomes their 2nd-best creator. That's not a recipe for contention. Their roster makes no sense at all. This is bizarre and their is obviously much more to this story.
If we had a 25yo MVP level player and traded him for a 32yo injury prone player past his prime only to get ONE pick back in return, I will quit watching the Rockets for a decade at least. I'd be so done with this **** and immediately think the league is rigged. Actually I do think the league is rigged because **** like this keeps happening to LA teams.
People really really overrate Luka lol. I would not have traded any of our players for him. That's how low I am on him. Would much rather have Davis.
no people underrate Luka … the fact that this guy is a top five player in the NBA as young as he is and doesn’t even try to get in shape…already went further than guys like harden. Trust me bro you UNDERRATE Luka. The really annoying thing is the Mavs giving up on him, costing him millions of dollars, by doing this trade is probably gonna light a fire under him. He’s gonna be the best in shape we’ve ever seen moving forward… almost seems pre written ….
The rockets win because of team defense and being deeper than any other team. I would have given them anyone other than amen for him.
Man just took his team to the final and isn't even in his prime and was traded for a 31 year old and a first round pick. Just one. Didn't even factor in that the gm didn't even bother to gauage the market. We have teams stock piling picks for sht like this and weren't even considered. Dallas got fleeced.
And I'd have been devastating, as all Rockets fans. Our future gone for a 1st round pick and aging big man. There'd be no hope. Mavericks fans going from the NBA Finals high and "we will be back here soon' to literally not having a future at this point is probably the worst feeling in sports fandom. And why the hell is the Mavs owner talking about "win-now". Breh just needs to continue what he started and blow the whole thing up.
It feels like Harden to Houston, not as big obviously but it still came out to the blue and on a Saturday night if I’m not mistaken.
Not his call. Silver made it. Mavs might be given some high lottery picks later on for cooperating with keeping the Lakers on top with a 25 year old MVP candidate.
