If you were the head of the NBA and you wanted this deal and it landed on your table without you having anything to do with it, would you do anything different? I think this is a Nike getting Luka in Los Angeles thing and the Adelsons will be handsomely repaid in a non-NBA industry in some other way. Maybe they get the casinos funded, maybe they get a team in Vegas for Lebron's retirement season (a team which Lebron wants to own), maybe they get to co-own with Lebron if they move to Vegas, who knows. I've worked in multinational government audit for nearly 7 years and I can tell you that we would have no f*cking idea how this got repaid in the end. It doesn't have to be public if they don't want it to be. This kind of thing, it HONESTLY could be $10bn into a political pac or offshore account. It could be swinging $10bn in real estate somewhere. I don't think there's any chance in hell - even if the Adelsons are stupid - that Nico Harris would do something that might cross them, I guarantee you that. That's not someone he can f*ck with as just a Nike guy. The Adelsons MUST be in on this for it to happen.
Agree. I contacted the NBA about refunding my league pass subscription. The veneer of fair competition has been etched off.
Omg watching the pundits sell this as though it makes sense. I'm done with the NBA for a few days tbh. Mavs fans are boycotting the team, I truly wonder if we should all boycott for a week. Doubt it makes a difference.
Doesnt mean u trade him to the Lakers for basically for free. Any team would have offered the whole treasure chest for a player like luka. It's infuriating watching the Lakers bumble around and still land a franchise player.
Mavs season ticket holders should riot and demand a refund, fans should boycott home games and league pass holders should cancel massively to show we don’t accept this.
Yep, Dallas interior is going to be sick!! Houston has to go get Robert Williams and Fox to stay in front
The NBA has been fixed since the late 90's. You only need to watch the Kobe/Shaq Lakers playoff games to see it. As Rockets fans, we know it all too well. Where there's smoke, there's fire. And, wow, which other team is involved in this utterly shocking trade?
I’m so sick of leagues gargling LA and NY dicks to set them up for success. Dodgers with the Ohtani deal, rams gifted a Super Bowl, and now this? there is no way this wasn’t forced. You’re telling me that Anthony Davis who forced his way to LA is ok with this?
This is the only explanation I can think is that there was some serious beef with the new ownership. Still there have been a lot of NBA prima donnas over the years. It comes with the territory.
It's just corporate lobbying bro, nothing that powerful needed for this spineless bunch of humans to let this happen. Just money. Bunch of corrupt bastards.
Still doesn’t explain taking a shitty deal like that where you give up the best player and all the other players and picks involved even are better for the team receiving the best player. I 100% believe that going to LA with this trade has to do with $$$ as one of the owners has ties to Nike.
