Those are both absolutely putrid defenders though and the cost of it was the only person keeping their defense reasonable. I'm sure the Lakers didn't really think the trade through because they were probably absolutely stunned to receive the offer in the first place but now the roster construction is completely messed up and I really doubt they'll be able to recover it before LeBron retires.
The story cannot be conditioning. It's the most ridiculous thing I've heard. The trade missing ungodly amount of draft picks to Dallas is comical, seems like half the league has given all their picks away to someone else.
I agree on the defense part, but that's why I said we'll see if it makes up for losing AD, but for them to think this is a "life after Lebron" deal, they're basically saying this season is hopeless (assuming this all falls apart in their face)? They've got something like the 5th best record in the Western Conference and are only 3 or so games back of the Rockets. I don't get it.
this is seriously like us randomly trading Harden during the 16-17 season for LaMarcus Aldridge and a pick and then Morey telling us he did it because Harden is fat, isn’t a good defender, and we were worried about paying him
Around Luka. Not Bron. It's basically the end of the LeBron era and the start of the Luka era. They also traded almost all their draft capital for Bron's last run. I agree this is good for the Lakers but it's very bad for Lebron. This is basically punting his twilight years.
I really don't think they thought about it. The deal was too good to be true and they just decided to figure out the rest after. If someone offers you double market value for your house today, you book a hotel tonight and find a new place in the morning. LeBron is the casualty here. The Lakers are basically done as contenders till the rebuild that roster.
