    To be fair, if you're trying to list recent players who are DPOY candidates and can score 25 ppg at the same time the list would just be AD, Giannis and MVP year Embiid. I know a lot of what's reported is BS but if we're to take that at face value, they wanted a win now defensive big.

    Mavs were the 7th ranked defense post-trade deadline with Luka, and the Mavs GM talking about he made this trade for defensive purposes

    Mavs gm Nico Harrison has to strong ties to the LeBron James family. He Is like an uncle to bronny James

    would not be shocked if this trade was made at the behest of Nike. Who planted Nico in this position to get this specific trade completed.

    Dallas didn't want to pay $345m to a guy who wouldn't commit to being in shape - so they get to compete in the last couple of years with Kyrie and AD.

    The Lakers get to now build around a superstar and twilight Lebron out of LA.

    Win win.
