Right now, Cunningham, Herro, and Powell seem to have the inside track, but if Amen ends up nearly doubling his volume stats over last season, which he may be on course for if he keeps playing huge minutes, and making all-defense for most voters as well, would he have to enter into that conversation?

    ---

    Last season's stats: 9.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.9 stocks, 53.6% shooting

This season's stats so far: 13.8 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 2.6 stocks, 55.7% shooting

Stats since entering the starting lineup January 5th: 18.7 points, 10.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 3.6 stocks, 55.7% shooting

    ---

Not really an award that has a ton of implications for his legacy or his future pay, but would still be a nice feather in his cap.

I believe the process starts with a nomination.

I know second year leap shouldn't count, but this one is different. He's a top 3 player on a #2 seed in the West. Many even say he's the best player on the Rockets. He should qualify imo.

Amen's basically twice as impactful as he was last year. As we get closer to the playoffs, the coaches should experiment with his offensive game (and please, please work on fast break spacing!)

If the Rocket win a series it will probably be because of Amen. At that point, the national media should be all over this story.

2nd year players should be completely ineligible, maybe if amen was in line to be top 5 in mvp like 2nd year luka but he's not close to that. Powell is a good one, zubac, guys like that.
