isn’t it a team option? If it’s PO little reason for him to turn that down. Pretty sure it’s TO though

He doesn't have a player option. It is a team option which they will probably not pick up.

100m over 4 years, last year team option, probably more likely to be accepted by him.

Too much bro. He won't be anywhere near worth $25m in his age 32-33 season. I'm telling you almost all small players age poorly and Fred has a lot of wear and tear on his body. I think it's a safe bet he declines slowly. We honestly can't afford to have $25m going to a $10m player, that could cost you one of the core if the math is a little unlucky.

    Over 4 years

    25
    23
    21 (50% guaranteed)
19 (25% guaranteed, 0% if terminated previous season)

Something like that would be fine because after the first year he's a super flexible contract. If he stays healthy and his game ages well, he'll have made $88m.

That's really good. I doubt anyone else gives him more. A young team might want him for two years big money but it won't be as big as what we gave him now that he's 30. So let's say a team like Detroit or Wizards offer him 2 years total guaranteed $60m maybe? After which he most likely makes the minimum and minimum the following two seasons aged 33 and 34? So total $65m? Like $13m less than what I'm suggesting we offer him.

Really hope we don't have big money on him in his age 32 season onwards. That can derail our perfect little thing we have going on right now (no bad contracts, can afford to keep a lot of the kids).

Mid 20's or higher per year is realistic. I don't see him taking sub $20m per.

With the way the cap is gradually going up, they could also structure Fred's contract as descending, so it can give more flexibility as Stone starts to pay the next round of young core: Tari and Bari, but not all the young core yet: Cam and Amen.

Stone, Patrick and Eli, should get to work, it's their full time job. We can't be giving all the answers here.

So if we were to decline, i think he would get 4 years 25 million from someone. So based off of that, we decline the option and offer him 3 years 75 million with a team option in the third year?

Tell me you don't pay attention without telling me you are oblivious to the facts.

Go and see who controls his option for next year and report back to me, pronto.

You are exactly right. FVV for more than 20 and a bench role is idiotic. FVV as a backup combo guard at 20 m would be outstanding, if he and Ime would stand for it.

FVV ain’t taking no discount knowing they can’t win without him. If we want him to stick around better be prepared to overpay again.

Technically he has a chip, AS season, 40 million already in his bag, he doesn't have to do anything as an undrafted dude.

The Rockets are actually begging him to take less.

He has already achieved more than 80% of the NBA and you make it sound like going to a bad team will kill him.

he’s having a crap season getting paid at least twice what he’s worth probably more. if he doesn’t take $20M per then there’s a bunch of other options around the league who can easily match this crap production

I’m wondering what other teams need Fred and what they would be able to pay. That would tell us what the Rockets would need to pay. A young team needing veteran leadership is probably the best fit.

The Rockets could certainly use Fred next season if they can’t find a better player as a replacement. If Fred doesn’t agree to a team friendly offer from the Rockets, I could see the Rockets still bringing him back for a final season.

I like Fred in a limited role but he's too much of a crutch for Ime. Udoka will not hold him accountable like he does the young guys.

FVV has CP3 lite skills. 100 mill for 4 years is doable.

I don't know. Feel like we can snatch Holiday from the Celtics this summer, might hold up better defensively.
